  • 1983 BMW 320i Alpina Replica

This is not much of an intro thread for myself, just an introduction of a new car by a somewhat older member. So a little back story to why I purchased this car.

I am originally from Connecticut, and I own a ’75 BMW 2002 that’ll have an AC Schnitzer box flare kit on it, and I also own a ’77 BMW 320i with an S50 motor swap. Both of those cars are still up north; I currently live down south in Alabama in an apartment building, for now.

Since we, my dad and I, have no where to work on any cars, they are all staying in a shop up north while we work down here. Hopefully soon those cars will be able to come down south, with viable work space, and they’ll finally be built. In the meantime, I bought this.

A 1983 BMW 320i Alpina Replica. It has the standard M10 in it, but was converted to a carbureted system rather than fuel injected. It also has a Getrag 240 5-speed transmission, and the typical run of the realm 3.91 differential. Some other goodies that came along/that were done to the car. A front bumper tuck, vinyl covered original cloth Recaro seats, original Alpina steering wheel, Ansa Sport Exhaust, H&R Sport Springs, Alpina Graphics / Badges, Alpina Front Spoiler, Zender Rear Spoiler.

It’s great to be back behind the wheel of a classic BMW as a weekend driver; they are truly fun cars to drive and are quite reliable. This made the simple two-hour drive home, averaging upward of 70mph easily 85% of the time.

Don't mind the quality of the photos, I snapped them quick. Hopefully I'll get out this weekend to properly document the car.

Couple of things needed to fix up to make it an even better car: fuel delivery tuning or repair to carb (it has an odd idle, but that shouldn't be much of a problem), the car is a 15-20 footer so getting the hood and trunk repainted if not the entire car, some detailing under hood and trunk (the trunk has a little bit of rust), A/C system replaced / fix the fan (sounds like a squeeling puppy. Odd I know, but that’s what I thought it sounded like haha), and lastly the fuel Gauge sending unit needs repairing because I had no clue what my fuel level was the entire trip home.

I really need to get into the show thread, no more of this introduction noob stuff...
