Hey guys, been watching the blog side of things for a while and just never registered an account, don't ask me why. I'll get right down to it. Bought this little truck back in January. Fell in love with it but it's so dang slow. I've been doing what I can to keep it running right, as it's my dd. Has only failed on me a few times, one time when I had rodents eat through my fuel lines in the driveway (seriously, wtf).
I knew that I eventually wanted more power, and occasionally checked CL for the Ford 2.3T. Over the summer I stumbled across one about 10 minutes from where I was living for a good price, complete with T5, electonics, and an extra short block. I don't exactly know what I'm doing engine-wise, but I've already learned a lot and look forward to getting more accomplished.
Day I bought it:

Where to start.. had to replace the whole cooling system over the summer after overheating on the side of 285 in traffic (not fun).

^^Inside of the old water pump
Upgraded the front end to disk brakes and did ball joints, tie rod ends, and wheel bearings at the same time. New shocks on all 4 corners.

After upgrading the brakes, I had to upgrade the wheels to fit over the brakes. Now running 16x8" 0 offset American Racing wheels. Took almost 3 months of looking and a few hours of driving to get them in the size/offset I wanted at a price I could pay.
Have BFG Sport Comp A/S on them in 225/55/16.

Still hauls stuff like a truck should:

Picked up some bucket seats from a Corrado for cheap, will probably try to mount those up this December:

And just a few weeks ago finally got the 2.3 torn apart. Had accessories off and boxed up in July, but hadn't gotten into the fun stuff yet.

None of the bearings were gouged, but they were all pretty worn. Piston rings need to be replaced. Block needs to be hot tanked. Crank needs polished at least. Wrist pin (that's the title, right?) on piston/rod 3 is really tight/tough to move compared to the others. If anyone knows where I should be looking for a set of those, let me know.
My goal is to get about 250hp to the wheels. The truck only weighs about 2500lbs so that should be good amount of power. Stock suspension right now, but I'd like to bring the front end down an inch or two and get some of that good ol rake going. Windshield needs replaced and floors need patched, but those should get done this December as well. I'll have about a month between the end of the school semester and starting back at my co-op to get as much work done as I can.
