  • Intro Time - MK1/MK7 VWs

Decided to finally post up my cars and quit lurking. I work in new car sales for VW near DC.

Not doing much to the mk7, it's the daily.
    2015 GTI SE 4dr/6mt/lighting package/driver assistance package.
    - H&R Street Performance coilovers
    - H&R rear swaybar
    - gloss black wrapped roof and mirror caps
    - weighted short shifter and BFI heavyweight shift knob
    - OEM CC wheels with Michelin Pilot Super Sports
Planning to do a tune, intake, exhaust, and tint, then probably leave it.

The mk1 is my baby. Dailied it for a year, then had to retire it for winter after it broke down 4 times in 2 weeks.
    1984 Rabbit L
    - ABA swap (done prior to me)
    - VMAXX coils (done prior to me, and going away soon because the ride is murder)
    - euro front end conversion
    - mk2 custom recaros
    - eurosport strut braces front and rear
    - m20 short runner intake
    - bfi valve cover on the way, along with catch can setup
    - techtonics 268 cam
    - techtonics catless exhaust with magnaflow muffler
    - 5sp trans with diesel 5th
    - small chrome euro bumpers
    - felgenwerks wheels with toyo t1r

Currently waiting for the valve cover to arrive so I can put it back together, tuck the harness, replace brake booster and master cylinder, then troubleshoot a ground issue that keeps blowing the fuse for the fuel pump, haha.

Eventual plans are to go f/i, air, and some fun interior stuff...

ABA swap was done prior to me...currently cleaning up the wiring and getting set up for a wilwood bbk. It's a full swap from a mk3 cabrio, haha

I'll be adding you on instagram! Is the caddy the one getting an ABA? I had an 81 diesel 4sp caddy for a while; unfortunately had to let it go, but that was going to get a tdi swap. Still going to do it at some point, but the rabbit project is kind of getting out of control, hahaha

Picked up a maxton front lip for the mk7 while I'm waiting for the mk1 parts to arrive...

Finally had time to work on the Rabbit a bit!

Removed both bumpers as I'm unhappy with the quality - once I have some cash I may get genuine OEM bumpers, for now running bumperless.

Installed BFI valve cover, short runner intake, throttle body drop plate, and deleted PCV partially, catch can setup is shipping to me tomorrow from 42dd.

Next up after catch can is installed, reattach intake plumbing and filter, then finish disconnecting and remove the entire wiring harness to clean that up. Some brake fixes coming soon too, if all goes according to plan!

The MkI is cool without bumpers. I like both though

                    progress IS a slow process

Update time, hahaha. Mk1 is currently at a friend's house getting a full engine side wiring harness (got in a bit over my head, and don't have a place to store it). Picked up some wheels for summer next year, scheduled repaint of new rear hatch, and appointment set with an interior specialist to redo the entire interior over the winter.

MK7 is now Unitronic stage 2, Milltek turboback exhaust, Neuspeed FMIC, 3m tint, VW Racing carbon lip set (ripped the maxton lip off in a rainstorm...). Currently looking for 17s for winter wheels, and will be getting front bumper plate holes filled and painted soon.

Thanks! I may have a hookup on a set of NOS small chrome euro bumpers - I had repops before and they rusted into dust almost immediately. Straight garbage. I have repop plastic bumpers, but like the smaller ones better, and it saves me needing to fill bumper holes. We'll see how it goes.

A few progress shots. Bumper off the mk7 for FMIC and forward collision warning sensor delete/new lower honeycomb grille/new carbon front lip.

                          Mk1 wiring harness removal...

Loading it on the trailer to store at a friend's place...wife was steering while we ran the winch.

And, photo of the new shoes for next summer when I picked them up at Vagfair last month. 13x7. Plan to run Toyo R888s after I get the wheels cleaned up and resealed.

Haha, thanks! I can't wait to get it back on the road - lots of plans for the future! Hopefully full new recaro interior over the winter, and going on air so I can dump it over the compomotives before mk1 madness next spring/summer.
