  • Hey from California

    Hey guys,

Been lurking for the past few days ever since my friend pointed out the page to me.

If you're on pedalroom.com you might know me as ridingfixed, old username i can't change, but until just recently bikes have been my jam, but I got interested in cars as off a few months ago when I started looking for my first one.

Any suggestions on first cars are appreciated, I'm 18 and have some money saved up. I also have a family friend that owns a few parts shops and can hook me up with a really good deal (I'm talking like 2005+ Benz C230 [Yes I know not the best car, but my mom drives one and it was used as a reference point] for a grand).

Really wanted an STI, but BMW 2002s have always caught my eye. Anyways I found CATuned's F20C (honda s2000) swap into a 2002 over on r3vlimited and can't get it out of my head.

Just saying hi and that i'm new and don't have a car but I'm getting there and will be lurking for a bit.

    Thanks,
    Q

    Welcome.

The best advice I can offer is to pick something to build that speaks to you. If a 2002 speaks your language, they're brilliant cars, but ultimately, our opinions about what you should build are pretty meaningless.

Thanks Sam!! I just don't know to much of what else is out there aside from e30s/2002 and sti vs evo, so that's why I asked for suggestions, but in the end it'll be my decision. So thanks again

Cant go wrong with euros. You'll need to invest a lot of money if you're going to buy an old car. I remember I bought my first car when i was 17 and it was a 320i e21 and i didn't have money to fix common issues so i was forced to sell ;(. whatever you do don't go honda! lol jk they're good cars but the honda community has a bad rep IMO. btw welcome to the forums! Im from the bay in Cali.

a 2002 would be an awesome car, if you want a proper 2002 its going to cost a bit. a 2002 with the rust removed, coilovers, paint, and a motor swap and all that good stuff will cost over $15,000.
other older bmws are all awesome choices.
i would recommend going through the forum and finding build threads of cars you like and look at the work and money that goes in to them to build them

Hahah thanks! Don't want fwd for sure, rear is the only thing I've ever driven (my moms Mercedes and my dads Tacoma). Up keep is my only issue, so that's why I want the s2000 motor especially if I get a 2002, I just think it's so cool. But if I get an e30 I'll go stock or like m50 or if I can get one an s50/2
