    My car history;

    206 2.0 GTI manual.
    Absolutely loved to shift like an idiot, because it was kind of fast.

    Jaguar S-Type. 3.0L automatic.
    Never wanted this in manual, just cruising slow, easy cruiser.

    Opel (Vauxhall) Astra Automatic.
    Slow as ****. just a pain in the ass to drive. this small car needed manual, because automatic didn't feel right.

    Gearbox really depends on what kind of car you drive, what size the engine is, and what your current drivestyle is.

    Don't know your favorite car size/gearbox/engine/model?
    Try to drive some of friends/family etc.

    And also, don't let anyone tell you to buy merc, bmw, honda or anything.
    buy what you think fits you, and looks pretty goddamn awesome in your opinion.

    Also. keep in mind big engines and heavy cars sometimes cost a lot at your insurance company.

      That Jetta's a nice choice. I'm 16 myself and currently DD a 2006 Dodge Charger. For sure get a manual. They're not hard to drive at all. I taught myself to drive one while "test driving" an old beater civic at a sketchy car lot Good luck with the Jetta!

        Get a manual, autos don't feel right unless you're wheeling!

          Dare i suggest you get an 80s or 90s BMW? As a BMW owner i know i may sound biased, but i am 16 too, and it seems to me that lately 90s BMWs seem to be going crazy cheap on craigslist. And i don't know how easy 90s BMWs are to work on but i have an 86 5 series and i have replaced the radiator and taken the whole brake / hub assembly apart with only a little help with my dad. And between the 3, 5, and 7 series they offer a pretty decent range of sportiness and luxury. When i was searching for a car one week i would want an s10 and the next week i would want a 240sx, and then i found the gem i bought for only 600$ (which may be a bad thing cause a 16 year old doesn't deserve a car like this and it will probably end up wrapped around a pole). BUT, If you put some time into searching for the right car for the right price you will eventually find something perfect for you. That's my .02 and if you don't like BMWs i can understand that because they do sometimes end up on the ugly side.
