  • Datsun S30 Early Stages

    Hi,
I have a 1974 Datsun 260z that is still in it's early stages. I attached images of how it currently sits. Currently waiting on Corbeau seats and MSA roll bar to arrive. I'm the editor of a website called CincinnatiStreetStyle.com and we are partnering with BC Racing to do an install and article on the new coilover setup they are releasing to the publioc. Their firts shipment should be arriving late August to early September. We are hoping to get them a bit early to have the feature up before the other shipments arrive so keep your eyes peeled. The Z build will be running Meister CR01 wheels by next spring. I'm looking forward to checking out everyone's builds.
    ENJOY!

So, I've finally been making some forward progress but unfortunately it's been too cold to finish what I have been working on.
A couple months back, I received my new BC Racing coilover setup for the Datsun S30 which they just recently started producing and the quality is AMAZING! Read my full review at the link below:

After sitting on the coilovers for far too long, I decided to get my 260z up on jack stands and start pulling the suspension off in preparation for welding the coilovers to the control arms.

With all of the suspension off, it was time to section the old strut tubes. In the above pictures, i just made a general cut to get all of the extra top weight off to work with parts I needed. The final cut will be 45mm from the bottom then the new coilover slides over the 45mm tube and gets pressed and welded in place.

Worth mentioning that my wife got me a center armrest with cupholders that I've been wanting for some time.

I have a few things to sort out with a couple of damaged brake hard lines before the suspension goes back on. Then it will be time to install the ZG wide flares.

What will be setting underneath the flares? I leave you with this teaser...

3 piece Revolution RFX's in 16x9 -50 that will be re-finished with matte black faces and gloss bronze barrels.

Bronze gloss faces w/ Matte black lip would be super sinister though...

Either way, looking forward to progress

Or bronze faces with polished lips if you're looking for a little more classic. Either way, bronze FTW.

Love me an S30. Looking forward to seeing where this goes.

Those are some great pics in your first post. Awesome s30, looks like it's in great shape.

In for the wheels + flares. (+1 for bronze + polished lips!)

Thanks for the love guys! Wheel color is still in the air but I think I'm pretty set on it. My friend has a set of Work VSXX's with matte black faces and Bronze lips and has since switched to Matte Broze Faces with Gloss Bronze lips in a different size and offset. We are also currently installing bags on his Z... Here are a few pr-bag pictures I took a few months back. I'll try and convince him to post a build thread on here as well.

Guess I just de-railed my build thread with a way cooler car.

Damn. That's a very good case for the matte bronze face/gloss bronze lips combo.

As far as derailing your thread with a cooler car - the s30 has more character than a 370z. It's more uncommon and has nicer lines as far as I'm concerned.

Keep up the awesome progress and put up a real build thread!
