  • Fresh Meat, Lurker dives in! (e34 lovin' here, mad pics)

Hey everyone, My name's Omar and I **** writing introductions, hence lurking for forever.
I signed up for stanceworks over a year ago when I had a different car and a totally different set of goals for what I wanted to do with it. My previous car was my first car & first love; a 190e 2.6 auto BMW e34 & Mercedes-Benz 190E which was, tragically totaled by a friend.
I had always loved the Merc, and appreciated their design cues, and was looking forward to moving up to a 300ce-
I suddenly found myself checking out the competition
    ... ahhhh... Bimmers
The Craigslist obsession was real, searching for a new car. its gotta be oldish, its gotta be benz or bimmer, its gotta have a moon roof, probably should move to stickshift!
minutes to hours, hours to days.. 3 weeks pass and a friend (same friend who crashed the Benz) shows me a link to this clean 1995 525i manual, with just under 100k on the clock,

Hell yeah! Here's how she looked after I got her home and waxed the b*tch up a bit.

Now I take this chick everywhere. she taught me how to drive stick and we're still goin strong 4 months later.
    now here are some pics

Teach me how to forum: head unit upgrades

got to workin on the car a bit more this month

I installed a Kenwood head unit after my stock one pfft out
it looks great in the dash and the color match is as close as i could find

For some reason though, the sound is absolute rubbish. Its like the head unit is somehow wrong for the system, definitely something I could use a hand with if anyone knows whats up. The problem as best I can describe it is that there doesn't seem to be enough power going from the head unit to the stock amp, sound quality is good, but only until about volume 25, not to mention the sound is way too quiet
compared to the stock unit. 25 on the kenwood sounds like 10 on the stock one. above 30 it starts sounding like its blowing out.

      Springs springs springs

Changed out my stock trampolines for some Vogtlands i copped for two hundie off ebay.
      nowhere near low enough unfortunately

Having never tried anything like this before it took me and my boys like 5 hours and 2 sixpacks to get the fronts in by 3 am. I've been rocking some sexy front rake for the past week until I have a day off from work to pop the rears in...

Generally on all my Bimmers pre 1999, I bypassed the amps and ran good wire straight to the speakers. The E32 and E34 are similar in that. I would suggest running speaker wire straight to the speakers. It should solve your issue. Stock amps are weak in these. Also you wont get any bottom end (bass) out of the stoc speakers. WILL need a sub.

Thanks for the advice and the welcome! I guess I'm not cool enough to attract much attention yet, but I'll be getting there, just have to sort out the rest of the maintenance that was ignored on this car first.

She needs new rotors and clutch kit pretty badly, any tips on lower priced OEM or slightly better clutch kit?
I found OEM Sachs kit for 230 with no flywheel or the Valeo single mass kit for 400.

I plan on ripping out the stock exhaust for high Flo cats and stainless back to any non fartcan affordable dual tip muffler

MAgnaflow seems to work well on Bimmers. I bought a Thrush muffler for my W201 Cosworth though... VEry inexpensive but decent sound. Not sure on the clutch. If you haven't already, join Bimmerforums.com. There is an e34 section you can get a ton of info from

Hey, How much lower were the Vogtlands than standard ? I'm looking at lowering my e34 and want something a bit lower than what you got.

                Nice car man!

If you are looking for more sound you need to check out German Audio Specialties. And thread by the owner of that company I have their 10inch box its really nice.
