  • Newbie trying to be the first

Hey folks. I drive an 05 Chevy Equinox and realize that NOBOdy has an aftermarket support base for theta models. I am hoping to be the first to put one on the ground. I know that the Cobalts and HHR's share a similar suspension set up but I do not think they are direct replacements. I am looking at doing a Front Up/Down, Rear Up/Down, and All Up/Down. I believe that I will need 3 switches, 4 valves, 8 gallons of air, and 2 compressors. Am I on track so far?
Like I said up top I have never done air ride. I have had Gabriel Hijackers on a 4/7 dropped chevy with a Schrader valve on the rear bumper but that is about as far as my knowledge goes.

Welcome! A couple of thoughts on your proposed setup:

              - You'll need eight valves, not four. Each corner gets two valves, one for fill and one for dump. If you've got the scratch, a VU4 manifold will handle all this for you in a nice tight package with a lot less plumbing than eight individual valves.
              - 8 gallons of air is most certainly more than you need, but the extra capacity won't hurt one bit and will give you a lot of movement range before the compressors have to run. That said, if the tank is empty, it will take the comps a long time to fill the tank up to the point it's usable. Just something to think about.
              - Consider adding one more switch to give you true FBSS control. It's the same amount of wiring, and one more switch costs nothing.

I'll be interested to see where this goes!

Not wantin to do fbss. This is more for just awe factor. I wanna be able to pull up somewhere looking pretty damn stock, then out of nowhere lay out. I think that would be pretty damn slick. I am still trying to decide if I wanna be able to control each corner independently or just front and rear independent. I know Aero Sports are my only option up front, and in the rear I will have to build a custom Upper bag bracket. I ride on the same suspension ideals as Cobalts so I think it should be fairly simplistic. I probably wont get around to buying parts until winter or so. Just trying to gain as much knowledge as possible right now.
