  • 1995 W124 E320 - Whats up S/W

Hey, I'm new to Stance Works but have been following for a little while.
I just picked up a 1995 E320 for the commute to work everyday from Mesa to Phoenix.

Here's a picture of how it sat the day I bought it.

and this is 3 days later. (sorry 'bout the grainy photo, my camera wasn't set up)

I took a short cut (cut springs) to drop it, but the ride quality isn't uncomfortable. I'll end up doing something different but for now this works.

I look forward to meeting you guys, I've come across some impressive builds here & even found a few fellow MB guys.

Welcome! You've got the wrong engine, but the right year, so I guess I'll allow it

The car looks very clean! What are your plans for it?

Believe me, I looked for a diesel first! No luck though, they were either in worse shape or out of my budget.
Plus, I had never owned a white MB but always thought they looked super classy. The two tone was just icing on the cake.

The plans right now are to catch up on some maintenance that the previous owner let slip. Boring shit but that's how it goes. I just got new rear diff bushings in the mail so that's first on the list. It takes away from the prestige when you hear a clunk going from park to drive.. drives me f*cking bonkers..
Next will be new blower motor regulator, its in the upper 90s right now in Phoenix so I need, NEED my A/C blowing. I should probably replace the blower motor too but it's in working order right now so.. We'll cross that bridge when we get there..
Also, the rear window regulator issue. the motors are still good, but the regulator arms are trash.
This weekend I'll be sorting out the audio issue (the PO didn't wire up the rear speakers when he chopped the harness and installed a cd player.. smh), along with adding a 12" sub and an amp in the back.
Then maybe pick up a set of 18" AMG large face monoblocks. Then finally sort out the suspension. Bags or static... not 100% sure yet.
Other than that, just a few cosmetic things here and there. Euro plate for the front, maybe update the tail lights, avantgarde grill . The rear bumper cover has a crack so that will have to be dealt with.
The car runs really well, no leakes, a/c works, cruise control works, wood grain is in better condition than I expected to find, almost perfect, & all the buttons work

Oh, don't feel too bad about not having the One True Engine - yours can actually get out of its own way . You're right, the diesels are either in questionable shape or fucking expensive, or in the case of mine, fucking expensive and in questionable shape.

Before you go replacing the blower regulator, check the strip fuse on the left side of the engine bay. It's by itself, not in the fuse box. They develop invisible hairline cracks that cause the blower motor to stop running. While you're dicking around in the engine bay, lube up the bearings on the blower motor with some white lithium grease and you might bring it back to life. Did wonders for mine.

PelicanParts has the Magneti Marelli window regulators, which everyone seems to think are fine, and will save you $50–$100 off the real deal. Some people just weld up the little teeth that sheer off - the interface between the motor gear and the teeth is loose, so apparently it works fine, but I've no experience with that trick.

I don't know if you've seen, but Electricalbox has a set of 18" Brabus IVs in the classifieds that would look phenomenal on a W124.

I used white-lith on the blower motor last weekend to see if that would help. It did improve the blower motor function, spins more freely now.
My blower still works, it's just very weak airflow from the vents. I heard that some people have found that the blower had been replaced and installed backwards but that wasn't the case with mine.
I did want to try and re-seat the regulator to the heat-sink to see it maybe that would have any affect.

As far as the window regulators, the Magneti Marelli's are exactly what I had been looking at.
The Braubus IVs are nice but I'm leaning more toward the AMG II style wheels.
          But thanks for lookin out!

It is pretty hard to beat AMG Monoblocks on these cars, I'll certainly agree with that.

Sounds like you're on the right track with the regulator, if you're getting slow air flow. If reseating the regulator doesn't work, AutohausAZ.com has them for about half what the dealership wants.

AutoHausAZ is where I used to get most my parts for my last benz. Black on black 1995 w140 S500 Coupe, ..man I miss that car.. but not the constant repairs.
