Hey Stanceworks, please give me your advice

I am a new member from SC and do not own anything worthy of stanceworks yet (Daily driver is an 02 Ford Ranger Edge, with a couple of mods). I am currently looking for a project car and thinking about a 944 Turbo. I am a self taught car guy and have a fair knowledge of how things go together, but I do not know much about internal mechanics. I have considered swaping the 944 engine for something with more power (was thinking some kind of straight six), but have been informed that a full swap would be over my head right now. I want something that is pretty fast but reliable for a daily driver. Please give me your advice on what to mod the 944 turbo with, or to give suggestions of other cars I might need to consider. Also talk to me if you know of a 944 Turbo (preferably black) relatively near me.
