  • New Guy from the Pacific NorthwIest

Hey there! Recently I've been really wanting to get a project car, with the hopes of putting it on air. I'd like to build something fairly sporty, along with being a real head turner. I don't have a specific car picked out yet, but I know for sure I want a wagon. I am a complete noob when it comes to airbags, though, so I figured this would be a great place to do some research!

Aside from that, one of my main hobbies is car audio. I currently drive a 2002 Dodge Dakota that I've done a full aftermarket system in. It's been a great project and I've learned quite a bit from doing it all myself. Here are some pics of the current setup:

    The truck

Amplifiers slide out from under the back "seat"

    Secondary Battery

    The list of equipment is:
    Fi Q12 fully loaded subwoofer
Crescendo Audio BC2000D - Running at 1ohm to the Fi
    Crescendo Audio Mezzo Components
Crescendo Audio C1100.4 - Running active to the Mezzos
    Pioneer DEH 80PRS head unit
Two XS Power D2700 batteries - One under the hood and one in the back
    KnuKonceptz OFC wiring throughout
Second Skin Damplifier Pro sound deadener

Now obviously my Dakota isn't really a great platform for what I'd like to accomplish, so I'm faced with a pretty tough decision of selling it, or just saving up a while and getting a wagon. The issue with selling the Dakota is that I also ride dirtbikes and downhill mountain bikes, so the bed is somewhat of a necessity for me. But I guess I'll save that decision for another day!

Well thank you! I definitely am leaning towards keeping the truck. I got the truck two years ago with a blown motor, so my dad and I swapped it out for a remanufactured motor. That was my first "big" project on a car, so I really don't want to see it go.

It'll be a quite a while before I have the cash to get a second car, but I guess that just means more time to figure out exactly what I want and what my specific goals for the car will be!

Well I think I've got my platform figured out. Considering I'm working at Quiznos part time while going to school, it's gonna take a substantial amount of time to get it. But I'm pretty much set on a B6 S4 Avant. I've been looking around, and it doesn't seem like there are too many of these things on bags. But from what I have seen, they're pretty incredible when they are! My guess is that the earliest I'll have one is around this same time next year, but considering my spending habits, that would be some sort of miracle. I guess we'll just have to see how dedicated I really I am to this!
