  • Howdy from UK V140 owner.

    Hey y'all.

Long time lurker, thought it was about time I introduced myself and my whip. Currently rolling in a 1994 Mercedes S320L (V140 shape). They're quite a rare sight over here now, especially in pre-facelift form. Mine's a 2 owner car, all it's ever done is chauffering fat cats up and down the country. A mate of mine, who some of you on here may know (bigperm) who's very well known in the UK Benz scene bought it as a non runner, made it all fantastically awesome, and then sold it to me. It's silver over grey, LWB (hence the V not W chassis prefix), with black leather and comfort pack.

Right now it's sat on 18x9.5" Brabus Monoblocks (3 spokes, ****** 'gon ****), just on chopped springs ATM although the ride's sublime as it is. Thinking about airing it out, but unsure yet as AFAIK it's not been done over here yet and I'm not good at fabbing the mounts etc that I need :/ .

I've now de-facelifted it, which is surprisingly hard over here. That means US spec orange front indicators and side repeaters, with orange wing repeaters too. It's got a Euro-spec heckblende on the back, which was a flukey bargain on eBay.de within the first week of ownership. I'm 50/50 on keeping this, which is insanely cool and VERY in keeping with the whole 90's theme I'm going for, or getting a US spec bootlid for it. Either way, it'll be different as there aren't as yet any 140s on the UK scene (that I know of anyway).

I'm afraid the pics are just phone pics, but next time I'm down at the workshop I'll get some proper ones. They don't do the car justice at all:

    Honest opinions welcome

Thanks man. It's definitely an acquired taste, but it works.

The original ethos was "the car that Ice would have left outside the club."

LOOKS GREAT!! Always thought the W (V)140 body was gangster when done right. Love the Brabus wheels. Had a set for my Audi and ended up selling them. Ended up with a W210 and wish I still had them. Are yours Et26 offset too?

Thanks guys . It does look very imposing in the flesh. That's one of the only pics I've got of it that actually shows the frankly ridiculous proportions, Mercedes designed it so well.

AFAIK they're ET23, I believe they're of an R129. I did search for a set of 3PC, but after having a look I think I prefer the crispness of the Monoblocks. The splits don't seem to command a massive premium over them in this size it'd seem.

                        Clean W140 you got there!

I've helped my friend bag his W140 and it was rather simple. just need couple of adapter plates to the bag and weld in a heavy duty 4 or 5" pipe to it(if I remember correctly) to sit into the spring cups. (those stock springs are something else...tallest passenger car spring I've ever seen in person) and threaded rod bolted to the bag so they don't become unseated going into drive ways/hills.
