  • Hey guys, happy to finally sign up

    I am happy to finally get around to creating an account. Amazing what finding a few questions that need to be asked will cause a man to do. I have always spent most of my work hours reading the 'Blog' section or looking at cars for sale or builds.

    I guess I am like everyone else and a huge e30 fan, my granny is the one that had me into them. She owned one and when I was a kid maybe 9 or so, I realized that I would be driving and she had this 'cool' black car that was in their eyes junk since she had a new Cadillac and that 'junk' was an old e30, I was at her house and the * year old me told her I was going to fix it and they said not to mess with it that I will get hurt. But I did anyway, I went to pop the hood and couldn't get it up. (I didn't know a damn thing about reverse lift hoods) and gave up, they said that's another problem. Eventually before I turned 16 they had it sent off as scrap, still thinking it was junk. Once I became about 17 I saw one again for sale and realized that was the car that I had loved as a kid and they are actually machines.

    I have always been a fan of performance car. Growing up with Need for Speed and switching to Forza soon after.

    My first car was a Chrysler Concorde. A huge tank of a car. I loved it as a kid and it was pretty fast. No kidding. It was totaled in July this year and I looked again for e30s I looked at 3 and an e36, always being purchased before I could get to the bank and all of my ducks in a row. The last e30 was probably the best, but I had a hunch it was stolen and found out shortly later the sig on the title was forged so I sadly had to pass. (if anyone had a Zinno e30 stolen hit me up, had no rust in the panels)... Amazing seats too. It also ran way too warm.

    On the way home though, I fell inlove with a K2 Jetta. Which is now my daily car. The guy I bought it from runs a garage, he is certified in Frame Repair, Forced Induction, the amazing stuff..So I took it for a run. I loved the way the car felt, the appeal of it. I knew it would look amazing stanced and I decided I would drop my quest for a 'performance' car and pick up this 2.0.

    The best part the guy totally jipped me. The linkage was so misaligned that left and up was 3rd, the car also misfired which he dismissed as a "exhaust kick" and I didn't think that to be right but trusted the man, he ran an amazing shop with amazing cars. He had an e34 M5 which my sister yelled "Bimmer" because she knew what I was after. But I knew the M5 all too well because it had been sitting there for a few years, to my knowledge from always seeing it. But it turns out a whole new shift linkage rebuild, the "Hangman/Relay Shaft" was nothing but almost bare metal, I could not stop smiling at the difference in the rebuild. As well as a shifter alignment. Now I figured out much too soon that the exhaust kick was actually a misfire on the 3rd. Working on something late at night I started my car and my brother said "you can see your engine spark when you start it" so I replaced plug wires. The store was sold out of Bosch so I bought Duralast. Still kicking. I have also dropped the oil pan to fix a bad drain bolt that was causing some huge oil loss. It had to ground out and pulled. So a new gasket and new 'smart bolt'. Plus the fun ole ignition switch many mk3 owners know all too well.

    And that leads me to where I am today. I wanted to do the 'preventive' before the stance, as well as the needed. I have done many small things to the car since, but hopefully I get to the fun stuff now.

    Wow, this is probably really boring without pictures. I will throw some online soon if anyone wants to see.

    Alsooooo;

    I live in Ky, so if any meets go down someone hit me up, I will park in back with the rest of the "Rallye" cars until I am proper.
