  • Classic '72 Merc

Hi everyone. Over the weekend I pulled the trigger on this beautiful machine. Outside she's great. Inside the trimmings need some attending to and replacement and whatnot, but It's becoming a fun project. Already started gluing the door cards back together and getting it all tightened up. Gonna be doing bags at some point. Gotta get some lift space and see what I'm going to need to fab up for brackets and whatnot. Until then, its just addressing the interior and motor. Runs great actually, but I keep waiting for catastrophic failure
    anyway, on to the pics.

this is me addressing why the windows wouldnt roll up.

Thanks. I think its a great starting platform. I wish it had a different engine (diesel) because the carbs can be problematic, but I only paid 2K for it so maybe an engine swap can come in the future. we'll see. Obvious inspiration will be coming from my 4-door bagged brethren on here lol. Its a big change coming from my STI but I wanted to step my game up a bit and wrench on something classic for a while.

Wow, going from the STi to this Merc is quite the change, to say the least. I'm sure you will miss the power of the STi, as expected. I just sold my K20a2 Swaped Civic Si for a Optima and plan on making the Optima a "VIP" car. Congrats on the new purchase and its in GREAT shape for the year. Looking forward to seeing what you can whip up with this. Good luck and welcome!

Thanks guys. Yes Fred build thread will come as I work on it. I wasn't sure if I should start one yet because I'm just doing aesthetic interior things at the moment and..well..this is STANCEworks lol. However if I can get some help from a friend, the stance will be addressed this month.
