Hey guys & girls.
So i've just bought my first beemer and I picked up this little beauty for $300
Its been sitting in a paddock on a farm with about a years worth of neglect.
I bought it with no keys and not running.
Towed it home and started on getting it running.
Turns out it was just out of petrol!!
It also was missing one spark plug but that was an unrelated issue.
So before I started it I fitted 6 new spark plugs, drained the fuel, put a new fuel filter in it and put in some fuel as well as two fuel system cleaning products.
After about a minute of cranking it fired and i've been driving it to work for aw eek now and it runs beautifully.
I've pulled off the throttle body and soaked it to clean up the oil and dirt build up.
It is all original apart from the pioneer headunit, 6 stacker and still had the factory 4x6" speakers in it!
It has the factory upmarket seats.
On the way home from Wallan stopped at a wreckers on the way that I knew had an e21 complete.
Took the factory steering wheel and also the ignition barrel with the key.
I also changed the awful red gear knob to a simple factory looking one,
I got a key cut by a locksmith to match the door barrel so I can lock the car but the previous owner broke the barrel out to start it, so I need to put the new one in eventually...
The paint needs a good wet sand to bring it back to its former glory and it has rust in both door and a poor bog job in the rear pillar so i'm in the middle of fixing all that.
One side of the car is done just need to finish sanding and painting the other side now!
Also the wheels with rusty and the paint was flaking so I wire brushed them and painted them a very metallic Gunmetal Grey and polished the chrome trims and chrome centre caps and they came up like new!
Just need to find time in between my two jobs and my family (two kids) to spend time on it.
Just gotta wait for the old daily to sell so i can fund this old girl to get her on the road.
