Awesome build so far. I also have an Alpine White E36. I'd love to see some shots of the plastidipped bumper, I'm looking into spraying my whole car in it after I do some bodywork.
I like the Style 5's, those would look good.www.My1Series.com

Man,the Style 19's look sweet on your ride!! I am looking into a set of them right now actually. I have to ask, what did you use to polish the lips? It will be my first set of 2 piece wheels that I am going to tackle and do myself. I love the style 5's but it seems they are everywhere and 19's are in my opinion just more unique and have that little more "edgy" style, with a touch of race quality to them not to mention much easier to clean lol! Thanks for posting!

copied and pasted this from another forum im in..
I had a lil experience with the style 5s by hand..lol Almost 12 hrs. just in sanding.
style 19s and 5s have machined grooves i guess bmw made them that way so the clear coat can stick.
i just brushed on the aircraft stripper like 3 times, and wiped it off.
then i bought 10 bolts and nuts at lowes that had about the same diameter as the original bolts and but the centers in the barrels with 5 bolts on each rim. jacked up the car,put the rims on the back and put it in gear, then started sanding away.. my buddy one side while i did the other
Started with 600 gritt-800 to smooth out the grooves.
then 1000-1500-2000 wet.
Then i read somewhere, about using a rubbing compound to get the scratches out, i just got some cheap turtle wax one.
And didnt buy the mothers ball ( was like 30 bucks), instead i got a foam pad that connects to the drill for 5 bucks and a set of 3 lil cloth pads that go over foam pad for another 5.bucks.. these are washable. can get some at harbor freight for cheaper.
took the rims apart. I didnt sand the inside of the lip where the bolts go was gonna do it by hand, but got kinda lazy. lol
This is how we did it, only took 1 pic.
I rubbed in the rubbing compound with a rag and then worked it for a bit with the drill/pad.
Then cleaned that with a clean rag by hand.
Then did the same with the polish. rubbed it on with a towel, and buffed it a lil wet with the drill / and different, clean pad.
let it dry a lil and then buffed that by hand with another clean towel. this step with mothers polish 2 more times, no need to change to a clean pad.Last edited by JE BMW; 06-22-2013, 12:53 AM.
