  • S210 from the uk

Hi all just decided to get back involved in the modding game after a good few years of being out of the game raising my family.
A good lot seems to have changed through the years but the basics are all the same with a good stance being the base from which to work from.
My current car is a mercedes s210 that kind of fits the bill with regards to pleanty of room for the kids/dog and yet still looking good with some decent wheels and a good stance.
I have just finished lowering the old girl today and is now looking good sat over some staggard old 18" antera wheels. I love the wheels as they are a blast from my old modding days back in 2000 but i feel the look good on the merc. (you may disagree)
Any how thats me and my motor and i will upload the lowered pics tommorow and hope to get some feed back.

Yes gunmetal will work i think.
With regards to springs its sat on modified H&R springs and shorter Pi shocks although i cant change the rear shocks as there hydrolic sls type

Dont really want to loose the sls system as it is too good as I do travel with seven people on a regular basis, and doing that without the sls it would be scraping.
I am plannint to raise the upper mounting points on the sls shocks.

i don't think thats a good idea. There is hardly any room to raise the mounting point for the sls strut mount to travel since its hidden right under the rear seat belt cover.

if you want i can take some pictures for some reference.

That would be great as i have not looked to see how much space there is behind all the boot panels as of yet, i was planning to have a look at the weekend and eye the job up.
i may well have to look into ditching the sls if it is that tight in there but what shocks do you replace them with as i know the none estate w210 shocks are to long, i understand removing the rest of the system eg changing the pas pump to a single unit etc.
Its nice to speak to a fellow w210 owner as they are few and far between in the uk.

                        here ya go mate:

                        this is my w210

                        this is the trunkspace

                        driver side rear:

notice how the cover sits flush with the carpet

the shock is held up by 1 bolt

passengers side with bose sound system removed along with cd changer and amplifier

it was a pain in the ass to reach this point because of the bose subwoofer removal.

passengers side mounting for sls shock

it would be easy to remove the shock, the problem would be finding the right shock to mount to the lower control arm in the rear. its not held in place by 1 lower control arm bolt but 2.

Yes i see what you mean with regards to being tight on space, i did not realise the mountings were sunk into the floor that way.....bugger.
I did see the bottom mount was a strange affair when i was fitting the springs on the back.
To be fair the rear set up does seem to be working ok and ride comfort etc is all good even 7 up so may just have to see how the rear shocks/sls hold up over time.
Any how thats a nice 210 you got yourself there, what mods you got done to her as i noticed the wheels...

Yeah i wanted to do the delete for several months now but i realize now that it would require drilling into the lower control arm and finding a shock that can hold a lot of weight. i might just replace the accumulators and call it a day. If its not broken why try and fix it :P

Its nothing special. just cut h/r springs all around with bilstein sport shocks in the front. i need to replace the bushings and accumulators so my ride wont be so shitty haha. and i bought the alphards off someone here in Las Vegas.
