  • W124 Owner

    Hello from the UK.

I own this bog standard E220-W124 which I initially bought as a second car runaround/train station car, but I've now kinda fallen in love with the old thing as it's so reliable and comfortable. Other cars (Audi Allroad, Civic Type R, Audi TT) have come and gone, but I just can't seem to let go of the W124.

When I bought it 8.5 years ago (from the original owner - my wife's uncle), it was 9 years old and had around 12,000 miles on the clock. It now has 55,000 miles on the clock. This week it just passed its MOT for the 15th time in a row without any issues whatsoever. Amazingly reliable car!

Rather than get rid of this old beast, it's now my romantic idea that I will slowly renovate/modify the trusty old W124 and maybe give it to my son as his first car when he can drive in 5 or 6 years time.

So if anyone has any tips or recommendations on what I should do to spruce up the old gal, please contribute. What's the first thing you guys think I should do with it?

Also, if any Benz officiandos out there have any recommendations for trusted Mercedes restorers/modifiers with a track record of working on W124s, that would be most appreciated.

    Thanks for looking.

Thanks. Yes, I was thinking coil overs first, followed by bigger (17s or 18s) wheels.

Thats not true Lowbenz. To fit e36 coilovers you will need to Modify your top hats, look into yellow speed racing coilovers. They are the only company in the world that offer a straight bolt on convrrsion kit for our cars.
