  • New user from Norway!

    Hi!

I've been lurking around the forum for a long time, and after endless tries to sign up it finally worked!

Im a 17 year old male who lives in the south of Norway. I don't have a car yet (except for an old MB e200 without registration), but i am planning to buy myself one real soon! Thinking about an audi 100 because i've got som real nice borbet rims for it! I am in the process of getting my driving license but it is so damn expensive (about 25000 NOK which i guess is about 2000 us dollars). So the first car wont be the nicest i guess.

Don't really know all the rules and codes of this forum yet but am hoping to fit right in :p!

I love gtos! Looks like good fun on twisty mountain roads.
Sadly skylines cant be registred in Norway anymore. There are a few out on the market but at very high prices. Cars in Norway are crazy expensive because of all the taxes and such. A skyline without plates will set you back about 90,000 nok while one with plates is about 300,000, i know a guy who has used 1,2 million NOK to register his r34 gtr, its absolutely crazy. And all just for a small piece of paper.

I am though considering getting an e28 or e30 from Germany. Because cars older than 30 years can be registred without paying any taxes except 25% of the price of the car. Something which is easy to fake ofcourse :p. The prices of e30's have shot through the roof in the last couple of years so you really save a lot importing one from germany.

Driver licenses are really expensive here, its fucking crazy! Its almost run completely out of hands. Because the driving schools can ask as much money they want because we are so dependable of cars since we live on the countryside. It also takes about 4 months the whole process of getting your license.

Sorry about the wall of text, i get so easily carried away when talking about cars!

          So i've just gotten myself a car. It's a Mercedes w124 2.0 liter diesel.

This car has been standing around my house for a while because it used to be my dad's until he crashed it. The original idea was to fix it again but he got a good deal on another car so it never happened. Then he was just going to sell it as scrap but told me if i wanted it i could have it.

It is such a sad car, the diesel engine pumps out 70 horsepower and combined with an automatic transmission it is unbelievably slow. It would be fine if i lived in a city, but on steep country roads it can't keep up.

Engine and transmission, interior and the rear of the car are in great shape. But i need to change out the whole front of the car. Fortunately it is blue, a very common color for these cars. It also needs new brakes and an EU controll (M.O.T i guess?). And it will probably have a few surprises in store :p.

I still don't know if i am going to fix it, or buy another one and use it for parts. Or just sell the whole thing.

Ive got some pictures on my phone that i will upload tomorrow !

What do you guys think? Fix it or sell it?
