  • E36 from Massachusetts.

Howdy, I'm new to the Forum... However it's not my first forum, I just decided to quit lurking and actually get involved. So without further adue.

1996 BMW 328i schwarz II 206k miles. Bought the car in Missouri, it was purchased new from BMW of San Diego, and I've brought her back to the east coast with me.

    My 96' E36

Suspension: mods are Raceland Coilovers, FCP front control arms, Turner Motorsport solid offset FCABS. Turner Motorsport Front and rear strut/shock mounts. Powerflex Poly RTABS. OEM replacement sway bar bushing and endlinks.

Braking: Powerslot front Rotors, Turner Motorsport cross drilled rear, Hawk street pads. DOT4 brake fluid.

Exhaust: UUC/Corsa RSC36 cat back. Longtube headers.

Engine, Shark Conforti tune, aFe intake. (Yet to be installed are Schrick 264/256 cams)

Lighting, DJ Auto glass projectors, 6000k HIDs, no fog lights...because they always break.

Wheels... your run of the mill restored BMW 2 piece style 5's. No spacers, tires 205/40/17

The interior is awful... so awful in fact its not worth showing.. The headliner droops, the sunroof cassette is broken, the drivers seat has a big tear in the seat, the carpet is destroyed. the only good thing in the interior is the dash, consol, and door panels.

my hooptie rollin, tailpipe draggin, heat don't work so my girl keep nagging...

haha jk man. That's how most projects start, don't feel bad about it. From your list of performance stuff, it doesn't seem like it's going to need much work to be show worthy too. I can't see your pics at work because theyre blocked. you have a nice foundation to build up on, What's your plans for it?

How do the raceland coilovers ride by the way? I had a set on my miata, but i blew the engine before i could really test them out. they were kinda bouncy in the rear, curious if it's the same for a larger car such as the 3 series.

    Welcome! I'm also a Masshole

The rates arn't too good I think the rears are about 400lb? In any case they're definitely never going to see a track, they're good for slamming it and thats it. It rides far more rigid than stock but it has some decent give to it. It goes pretty well too.

My current plan of action is to park it in the garage this winter and pull the head, swap the cams, get a custom tuned computer, bigger injectors and install my new clutch/flywheel combo. Long term I hope to fix some of the small rust spots on the trunk sill and LR fender and get the entire car repainted, and go with an OEM BMW low spoiler in the back. I'm looking into big brake kits too.

I have a set of Sparco Milano 2 seats that I'd love to install but between the mounts, the harnesses and a harness bar. they're going to wait... a while.

Yeah the spring rates definitely suck, not a track coilover but they do go very damn low. I was tucking my miata's 14's with those! They're a good budget coilover for that purpose alone lol.

Sounds like a good plan you got there. Those cams should be pretty nice on the M52.

Have you ever came across Ksport BBK's? I've been told to stay away from them, but i'm curious to see if someone here has a more recent review. I wouldn't run them on my car since g37 'akebono' calipers are a click away anyway.

Yeah the M52 with a few bolts on and a mild tune can make S52 power... I'm looking to exceed that.. and possibly lighten the car.

The Wilwood BBK for the Non-M chassis is 800ish front and rear, I was thinking of going that route.

As for the seats, I tried selling them but so many potential buyers balked.

Thanks, will do, I'll probably lurk around in the off topic thread, and make a build thread when I start building again. Any recommended reads?

                  you has PM!

I'd say start with the stickies, they're usually good on every forum. I found a really useful thread on where to find good wheels for decent prices besides craigslist and ebay, and here of course.

Do you know how to roll/pull fenders? there's a thread i'm about to read up on since i've never done it.

I know how to, and have helped a friend do them on a GTI but I'm hesitant to do it on my own car... If i ever come into so decent cash and buy the set of CCWs I want, rolling will happen.
