The best thing about night shots... the dark really hides the grime! The car's gonna get a proper cleaning this week in time for a show next weekend, and my brother's offered to do a proper photoshoot, so I'll be posting in the Showroom before too long!

The other night I thought I'd do a photoshoot at this old factory near my Grandparents' place in Windsor, VT:

Finally I lowered the rear one inner spline on the torsion bars (about 2 1/4 inches.) Back on all fours again, I was very happy with the result:

With the lowered spring perch, smaller tires, and swapping to a later-style upper strut mount, I believe I'm about 3-4 inches lower in the front than I was before. This is all the clearance I have beneath my control arms:

That's about 2 1/8 inches. And I live on a dirt road six miles from civilization...
Nevertheless, I've only bottomed out a couple times, I can turn lock to lock with no rubbing, and I have no bump steer issues. And she handles better than my E30!

Then the real work began! I got the front end torn apart, and modified the strut housings again. Here's what they looked like at first, with the lower perches already down 2 3/4 inches.

I then cut the perches off and installed some modified upper mounts... another two inches lower. I also took 2 inches out of the height of the housing, and installed a set of Mk1 Rabbit inserts. Unfortunately I neglected to take pictures during this process, but here's the finished result:

I reinstalled them in the car with a set of Honda Civic coils at first, but the fit wasn't right so I ended up going back to the stock springs. Here's what the Honda springs looked like. Also note my brandy-new disc brakes.

Updates!!! It's probably time to start a build thread, but I'm too lazy. Anyway, first, my rims arrived about a month ago. The look even better than I expected, except they didn't come with center caps.

Then I picked up 185/65/15 ContiProContacts for the rear, and 155/60/15's (Smart car tires) for the front. The front's got a nice lil stretch to it!

If by this you mean you don't dig the ratlook, you can rest assured it won't last. My color choice seems to change weekly, but right now I'm leaning toward VW L51C Miami Blue...

Correction: It could potentially have well under three inches of clearance beneath the control arms (the lowest point on the car). I'll measure when I get it done.
