• Audi B5 Avant

hi, from cape town - south africa--unfortunately we never received the B5 Audi is any S version. S4 etc and definitely no wide body versions. heres my standard non turbo 1800 20V. not looking for speed really just looks n hopefully stance soon.

how it all started. bought it as a non runner with a damaged head. standard 1800 20Valve non turbo. "no turbo, no gas, just kicking ass" hehehehe

thats what the pistons looked like when i got her. ouch for interference engines! was a 2 owner lady driven car and was in good nick considering its a 1997 model! was really maintained by the previous owners and she said it was quite a shock when the cam belt "jumped" damaging the pistons and a few valves.

getting there, slowly and expensively here in SA these audis are worth more as parts than if you had to buy them as a running car!

almost there. used the old belts that the car came with as a sample and replaced them and ....

cam belt was 1 tooth too long! bent all 20 valves and had to have the head welded and skimmed. agents insisted on a sample as there are 2 types and a difference of only 1 tooth.

    FINALLY...

and then ..... some twit decided to take off and then hit brakes. drove into his ass.

was about to pull the plug on the project but decided this was an opportunity to fiddle...

all repaired and sprayed. silvered the roof carriers and mirrors for an S type look..

finally. just needs some stance now. air bag suspensions are almost unheard of here and coilovers are becoming more popular but still expensive. around $625 more or less for a coilover set.

put on a set of Audi S5 reps 235 40 18s but shes rubbing... oddly on the front right and back left wheels only!!!!

Click on your picture in flickr and then click the share button at the top left of the pic. Copy and paste the BBC code in here, click preview before you post just to make sure everything is working. Hope this helps.
