  • 1978 Datsun 280z from Michigan

Hey guys. So I just picked up a 1978 Datsun 280z the other day for a nice winter project. I can't stop thinking of all the possibilities, I'm having a hard time deciding between a classy more original look, or more of a stanced out rat rod look. Either way the car is about to undergo a huge transformation in the next 6 months or so. Here are a couple shots from when I got it home.

how about a hybrid of classic and stanced. It would suck to see this thing get ratted out considering it looks like its in really really good shape. I can understand the rat look for a car thats in bad condition but this way to good lookin

I'm from Grand Rapids. And ya the car is in really good shape which is why in having such a hard time deciding what to do. My biggest dilemma is whether or not to install those bolt on fender flares. I know the flares let you clear wider wheels and everything, but I also know that you have to cut the actual fenders. We will see though, first things first I have to track down this misfire and get it running 100%.

So I've been slowly working on the car. Decided I am deleting the side signals and took both bumpers off. Put a "new" original coil pack in today that I bought off a local datsun guy. The new coil may have fixed the misfire. It runs a lot better, but I'm not sure it's entirely gone.

I'm ordering the fender flares and front air dam tonight so there will be some more changes coming soon!

I pulled out the three remaining old fuel injectors and the number two cylinder injector looked like this.

That might have played a part in the misfire too haha. Hopefully after all the injectors are replaced the motor will run flawlessly. We will see though.
