  • I'M NEWWW... PDX.. B5 Passat

Hello all, my name is Jake. I'll say right now that this is gonna be picture heavy! I drive a 2000 VW Passat. I am currently located in Portland Oregon, I moved here only a couple of months ago. On my birthday in January of 2012 I will have had this car for 5 years. It is far from my dream car, I want BADLY to get my hands on a mk2 golf/jetta coupe, but this car has never let me down. I figured I would compile a quick history of the car up until now... on to the pictures!

Stock status.. the car spent a very long time looking like this. The hub caps never wanted to stay on.

It's been hit.. this one cost just a couple pennies under $4k in 2008.

I've hauled A LOT of firewood in this car...

    ... and some friends.

As it turns out the windshield does not support my weight very well.

Right before I graduated, and moved out to Portland I picked up a set of Mercedes evo2 wheels. The lame 7.5" versions, not the rarer 8.25" versions haha. They were dirt cheap so I cleaned them up a little bit, acquired equally as cheap used tires and threw them on.

When I moved out here. I attended WaterWerks NW and was fortunate enough to win a set of brand new Rotiform wheels!!

People told me I should just sell them. But I knew the passat had some potential in it. And it seemed wrong to be handed such a nice set of wheels to just flip them for profit. So I went out and bought a set of used coil overs off of a local guy.

p.s. my roommate drives this WRX

After that all that was left was to get some tires. I initially got some 235/35 Nexen N3000's (I swear I was told they were 225's...) But that just wasn't doing it for me, I was hoping to get a little stretch. The tire guy called me back a little while later and said he found a set of 215/35 dunlops.. and I went for it. And this is how she sits... I shot these photos earlier today.

That is all for now, sorry for the picture overload! Hopefully I will get to meet some of you guys/and see your cars in person. Pictures are nice... but it is not the same. I will be at Pacific Waterland next weekend... Cheers!
