  • hello from Georgia. vintage british content

Hey every one, my name is austin and I've been on this site for over a year now. I've never really posted any pictures of my car. so here it is....
its a 1978 MGB with 17,000 original miles. I've spent the last year getting it back on the road after it sat in a garage for about 8 years. It has a new Weber downdraft carb and electronic ignition and distributor. all new headers and exhaust.

In order to lower it I have completely removed the front suspension and I currently have 3 inch lowering blocks in the rear for the leaf springs (i wish i had got 4 inch blocks). I really want to find some nice wheels to run.

With a name like Austin, I was expecting a Healey. But I'm quite jelly dude. Insanely low miles too!

Wire wheels would look amazing!!! But not sure how easy they come around with a 4x100 fitment rather than a centre lock!
They came standard on my old Morgan and looked epic

Excellent, I'm not the only B owner on here! Welcome aboard. In response to the suggestion for wire wheels, early B's had them with center spline, but that would involve changing out the entire hub for the front and most likely entire axle for rear, and you're not going to be able to get anything wider than about 5 inches. (Also I believe B's are 4x114.3 not 100) Can't wait to see what direction you go with yours, I'm struggling to find something that will fit my vision for mine. Cheers!

You can easily get new wire wheels that aren't center-locks, can't remember the brand that we bought for my dad's B but they are available. Check with Moss Motors, they have everything for MGs.

I love the ride height (and my dad would probably shit bricks if he saw it) but did you actually remove the entire front suspension (springs)? That's an unbelievable sacrifice if true.

im glad there is another B owner on here haha. the MG fourms aren't very accepting of significantly lowered cars and fitting wide wheels haha. i'm still unsure what im gonna do for the wheels

yes! i get almost all of my stuff through moss. and yeah i removed the springs and still had to much wheel gap haha and then i removed the bump stops. its not the smoothest ride but its loads of fun and im trying to figure out how to lower the back some more
