Well it looks like I now have my hands on a 1984 318i that I picked up earlier today for $600, the interior is shot all to Hell except for the carpet which has miraculously been taken care of somehow. It has a few spots of rust here and there (small spot on roof, front right corner and behind the back left window where the moonroof drains out) but nothing you'd expect from a car that's almost 30 years old, best of all the trunk is completely rust free . The car gets up and goes fine for it's age and made the almost 90 mile trip back home without even a hiccup but when I got home I noticed that on the drive home the car had spit out about a quart of oil from what seems like either one of the vacuum hoses or the intake manifold, seeing that I cant really see where it's coming from since it most likely happened when I was going down the highway changing between 4th and 5th gear. The hoses in the car definitely need replacing and I know the previous owner had cut and disconnected the hose to the EGR valve but I'm not sure if that'd be the problem. Basically what I'm saying is if there are any e30 guys out there with some experience with the m10b18 engine I'd appreciate some theories as to what the problem is and/or some helpful forums or websites to check out to get some answers.
