Whats up everyone?
I'm Tom and I'm new to stanceworks, but not to what ya'll stand for, due to my presence on vwvortex and the Western New York VW forum, Dubs In the Buff (linked to in my sig). I also have an account on FerrariChat and some other forums.
I'm a 19 year old college student in Ithaca, NY going for a degree in something completely not car-related. But, of course, I want to stay in touch with my passion for cars. I have a 1996 VW GTI VR6 and a 1993 VW Eurovan MV. The GTI is my dd and the eurovan sits in my garage at home, and hasn't seen the road in over a year, due to the brakes lines rusting through and me being just way too lazy, busy, and just not giving a fuck about that car. I like to think of it as a camper-van version of Stancework's own Rusty (R.I.P.) just with paint covering the rust. That car used to be jamaican aqua blue, but now has graffiti covering it, as that paint began to look like crap, so my friends and I spray bombed it. I had plans to put in a Audi 20V Turbo engine in it that I received for free, but had to abort that after finding that the head had dropped a valve and fucked everything up. No pics of that as its rather non-eventful.
This is my GTI as of September 2009 (never really bothered taking new pics)

I had the car repainted back to its original black about a year and a half ago. My dad bought the car new in 96 for a quick fun cruiser to drive back and forth to NYC from Buffalo in. He owns a construction company in NYC and has to travel back and for often. He handed me the keys when I turned 17 with 200k on the odometer. Ive put 12k on since. I realized right away that I wouldn't be able to do any crazy engine mods to it, in fear of grenading the tired engine. Instead I've focused on cosmetic mods. The car currently has:
Thule Bike Rack with my 80's Peugeot road bike on it
E-codes
Rear Fog
Shaved Euro Front Bumper
Hatch Spoiler Delete
Cross-drilled Rotors
Red 2 Piston Calipers
Koni Shocks/Struts
Ground Control Springs
GIAC Chip
Modified Stock Air-box
Remus Catback
Pioneer HU w/ iPod
Euroswitch
It used to ride on RS's and later polished Porsche phonedials which I had to sell to help pay for school. Looking to get some nice wheels on it again.
I don't really have it slammed, nor flush with the arches as its on its stock wheels. Also since I'm a freshman in school, its really expensive to bring our cars to school ($800 parking) so I haven't driven it in a while. But I will have it next year as I joined a fraternity here (any Sigs on here?- I am a Sigma Chi) with a parking lot at the house. However Ithaca is very hilly and I scraped everywhere when I took my GTI here last year to visit. So moral of the story is that the GTI will be my DD, and not an extreme, low to the ground impractical car.
BUT I DO NEED A CAR THAT IS CRAZY LOW AND IMPRACTICAL. I've found myself looking for a project. I've decided on finding a B2 Audi 4000, like the one owned by Adam of Adam's rotors. I'd like to add some JDM and German flair to it, combining parts from all different kinds of cars; bmw ac schnitzer wheels, JDM wheel flairs, JDM fender mirrors, and possibly even later a RWD build with a inline 6 turbo from a japanese car, with a hood bearing the imperial japanese flag in rust to pay homage to what is beneath. Ambitious? Yes. But dope. I'll be working two jobs over the summer to get this started. Wish me luck.
Thanks everyone for reading this, I look forward to contributing often.
