The problem with putting a 32v V8 in the 1st gen stang is you have to cut the shock towers to get it to fit,and but all new front suspension, which to be honest I don't really feel like doing. The motor I will be building for this car should be well over 400hp tho.
so after tearing the center section out of the rear end for the third time, I found that the pinon which I bought brand new was defective, the front of the pinon was out of round and there for when I put load on the car it shifted my backlash causing the ring and pinon to bind and destroy itself. So after a phone call to jegs yesterday I had a brand new ring/pinon and bearing/install kit show up on my door step free of charge.
after a few days of sitting the rear leafs finally settled they advertise a 1.5 in drop over stock which was about right, I already had a 1 inch lowering block in addition tot eh drop leafs and I decided it wasn't low enough, my pinon angle was also off. So I made my own lowering block with the correct pinon angle out of billet aluminum. This will not only give me the correct pinon angle but also lower the car another 1/2 in or so in the rear.
in comparison to the 1" block I was running
perfect fit
although the car is still on jackstand this should be about where it will sit, just barely tucking a little tire.

Finally got the rear end squared away, and got the car back on the ground. I'm very happy with the way it sits in the back now, normally I like my cars to have a a little bit of rake to my cars but this car seems to work best leveled out. I got a call from total control products and my coilovers will be shipping out on Friday after being on back order for 8 weeks. So hopefully I can get them in before the show next weekend.
what I started with
one finger gap between the fender and tire too, tucking slightly
