Hey people, I'm Zain from CT down in SA. 25yrs old and i'm rolling a 2004 VW MK1 Golf. Bought this car after writing off my 88 MK2 Jetta 16v. For now its a 1.4 engine. Did some minor mods to motor and exterior...just keeping it OEM+. Rolling on 16" 2 Piece BBS RS771 wheels and Koni Suspension. I cant really go much lower coz we have crappy roads.

Wow, looks like your mk1 is in incredible condition. It's a 2004, so do they still make them or did they stop recently?

hey rally...thanks. ya the car still looks quite good even though it parks out in the open at home. its got some battlescars and a tiny rust spot has started developing on the hatch.

they stopped making the "MK1" about 8months ago...so our roads are sprawling with them.

MK1's are known as CitiGolfs here...they retailed for about R100k-R115 (depending on the model) brand new just before it was discontinued. I'm not sure what the exchange rate is where you guys are tho.

lol. i'm sure it's high to you guys judging by how damn low you guys go. i dont think i have the balls to go that low. everyday when pulling up into the driveway my car munches another piece of my fathers grass out.

no those are for sure 16" rims. They come stock on the mk4 jetta wolfsburg over here in the states.

also zoom in on the pic of the rim and tire and you can see the specs...


R100,000? that means that here in the states they would be rolling off the lot for somewhere between $14,000 to $16,000 which is still a pretty good deal.

Car looks pretty awesome imo, i would love to have a new mk1.

oh sori...misunderstood you for a sec. ya that's the problem i have with it...the bumpers are very narrow making it not look very low. thats why many guys here fit mk2 chin spoilers to give it a lower appearance.

as hamersmt said...those are the rims from the mk4. Here in SA they came on the mk4 Jetta V5 (5/100pcd) and the Golf mk4 Cabriolet (4/100pcd). i searched long and hard to find a set.

the last mk1's that came out here mid 2010 had, airbags, and a rockford fosgate sound install...and i THINK they came out with ABS.
