hey thought id formally introduce myself names brandon im from surrey bc canada.im looking at buying a e30 in the near future and thought this would be a good place to get some info.so let the questions begin what is the difference between the 325is and the 325es? as far as i can find out the is has the 2.5L i6(170) and the es has a 2.7 i6 i googled it and i found one random site that said the 2.7 only has 129hp if this is true why is there such a dramatic difference?i also read somewhere that the 2.7's redline is like 4500 is this true? thanks for any info

sup bro! i live in richmond bc.

k so i have an e28. i suggest you join our local forum at www.bcbimmers.com and login there. we're a huge old bmw base. and can easily answer your questions and support.

the 325e had a 2.7L motor with a larger stroke. it had a low redline of like 5200 rpm. the "e" stood for economy. it had less horsepower but lots of torque. you can get new chips that really wake the motor up.

the head of the 2.7L is different (valvetrain is not as strong). what lots of people do is swap the 2.5L head onto the 2.7L block and swap computers etc. and effectively get a stroked 325iS. gives you the low end torque with the higher hp and rpm.

anyways, hope that helped a bit. log onto that website i gave you and there is lots of help for you!

I don't know the differences since I'm not a BMW guy but looks like 320icar knows.
