Writing about these sorts of events is never easy. Trying to put into words what something like this is all about is not a simple task (which is probably why it has taken me months to get this out). The photographs give you a feeling and a mood, and maybe a few highlights, but the truth is, you have to be there. It’s an event that must be witnessed first-hand, and that’s what drove me back to the Goodwood Members Meeting again this year.

I like to think of myself as a true car guy. I work in the car industry, and when I am not busy designing the future of transportation, I am at the track photographing classic races, or in an old warehouse somewhere shooting grungy shots of a friends car. The petrol that runs in my veins could only have come from one place: my father. He is a car nut too. From a young age, he spent his free time working in his father’s repair shop fixing cars.

After 4 years living abroad in Europe, it’s safe to say I have seen my fair share of epic motor racing events. From the beautiful French town of Le Mans, the tree lined valleys of Spa, the grey, weathered grandstands of Hockenheim, to the deepest parts of the green hell they call Nürburgring. I have sampled some of the best classic and modern motor sports events Europe has to offer.

The Le Mans Classic 2014

Roadtrip ideas usually come about after a fair amount of beverages. Usually some time in the early hours of the morning and usually surrounded by good friends. Sometime in the depths of winter, dreaming of summer days and classic racecars, a few mates and myself came up with the fantastic idea to roadtrip 8 hours from Germany, rent a huge house to sleep us all and enjoy the Le Mans Classic. Basically an epic automotive pilgrimage.

So six months later here we are.
