I forgot to mention that I despise amber lighting. Haha that's literally the first thing I did on my Subaru because I can't stand how dated it makes the car look. I'll also be doing something about the amber in the tail lights at some point in time.

One of my goals with this car is to bring up to date and make it feel and look like a new car in a sense.

Oh hey everybody. So not much has been happening with Elbenzo. It's just been sitting sadly on the side of my house for some time now due to some apparent electrical/charging issues. And one of my tires kept running flat but I took it to get fixed. Had a leaky valve stem.

Had an issue coming home one very cold night when the car started beeping at me, so I pulled over and shut it off. Attempted to start her back up but had no luck. Jump started it but it shut off shortly after disconnecting the cables. This problem has been repeated a handful of times.

Long story short, there's a parasitic draw of some sort that's killing the battery when it's off. And the alternator is not charging. I replaced the voltage regulator on it hoping that would fix it, but that unfortunately did not help. I also purchased a new battery but that doesn't seem to be the problem at all. At this point in time I can only assume that it's the alternator. I will be taking it somewhere to have the charging system looked at sometime this week.

Pulled both of the oldies in to the garage to try to get both running well. (CRX ended up dumping a puddle of oil from the middle of the car out of the exhaust. Probably a headgasket that isn't financially worth fixing.)

Old voltage regulator compared to new.

        Mini update for you gents

I decided to take the car in to a local euro-specialties shop to have a 300 point inspection done on the Mercedes yesterday. As you may have read, the alternator has not been charging and there's some sort of parasitic draw. It also has a relatively rough idle. I got a call later in the day basically listing the following issues.
        • Wiper not functioning properly (slows halfway through)
        • Warped Rotors (easy fix)
        • Rear shocks leaking (going bagged anyway)
        • Rear differential leaking
        • Valve cover leaking
        • Transmission shifting "improperly"

The shop, Makes and Models, is a highly acclaimed shop and I trust that they're expressing the concerns accurately. While on the line I requested that they looking in to these three main items (as these are the ones that will permit me to drive it day to day). I'm sure I'm going to end up paying quite a bit for their services but I'd rather get it out of the way all at once to ensure I'll have a smooth season.
        • Alternator charging issue
        • Parasitic draw
        • Rough Idle

Another small update for you guys. The shop has been in touch most days last week to provide me with updates. I went ahead and had them complete the following for me:
          • Replace wiper blade and fix wiper motor
          • Replace alternator (fixed parasitic draw)
          • Replace valve cover gasket
          • Replace spark plugs and plug wires

The plugs and plug wires come as a result of trying to change the valve cover gasket. While pulling the plugs, one of them broke at the ceramic. They're probably very old and I'm glad that we're replacing them. This should also take care of the rough idle to some extent. The car should be ready for me to pick up today!
          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also, some major news that I forgot to mention! My WRX swapped 2.5RS is gone! Myself and the owner of the car you're about to see arranged a trade late last month. I went from a comfortable street car to a full blown racecar (just short of a few hundred horsepower)

So here she is. My "bought not built" 2000 Integra GSR with 4 miles on a fresh engine.

Picked up the Benz yesterday from Makes & Models!

I'll likely be taking her down to a Mercedes specialist about an hour away from me to have them check out the rough idle and see if they can do anything about the transmission without emptying my pockets too much. If I had more time to work on the car I'd be more willing to turn wrench on it. But three jobs kind of kick my ass and take all my time.

Some more exciting news. I've come across a set of wheels that I hope I'll be purchasing. Waiting on verification that they can be rebuilt to a 17" with 3" lips. Once I have confirmation that the build is possible I'll be making the purchase!

These are some pretty rare, and very cool SSR Crenshaw Classics. I love that they're a euro-style Japanese wheel. Basically a perfect merge of my styles and I'm really hoping that I can lock these down.

You have a knack for finding some awesome sets of wheels. I expect nothing less.

Are you gonna swap the XXR's out for something cooler eventually on the Integra?

Officially sent over funds for the SSR Crenshaw Classics!

                      Here's the deets
                      • Custom stepped to 17's
                      • 3" lips

                      • Copper lips (still deciding on plating or powder)

                      • Copper center emblem

I've also just now sent over a request for information to Only Charged Dubs to get some verifying information about their W201 suspension kit. Once confirmed I will be making the purchase (given funds availability). That means I need to get these wheels sold! Help me get rid of them!

In other news! I got in contact with Only Charged Dubs on Monday (the developer of the air suspension kit I'll be ordering for Elbenzo)

Matt at OCD (Only Charged Dubs) was awesome to work with and had always answered my questions promptly and very professionally. On Monday Matt referred me to Bagriders, who is the distributor for this kit in the United States. Matt informed that he had records of Bagriders having a kit in stock for my 190E

I started typing this big long story out then decided I didn't want to be that guy sharing his fully detailed not-so-great experience with a merchant. Long-story short. The rep at Bagriders that I've been dealing with hasn't been nearly as helpful as I hoped he would have been. I have a number of issues that have really reduced my confidence in the service I was receiving.
                                • The Only Charged Dubs kit is not listed on their website
                                • The 190E kit is listed under a C-class vehicle (W124 being the same kit is listed under E-class appropriately)
                                • Told me they didn't have a kit in stock for me then found out they did later on (not knowing availablity)
                                • Had very little knowledge about the product itself (didn't know the shock options or understand why coilovers are offered)
                                • Had to provide a link to OCD's website to ensure he understood what I was asking for
                                • Told me I could order online even though the kit isn't listed on their website
                                • Overall just didn't seem to understand the urgency of my request or how to address my concerns

The last word was my request to have the item added to their website so that I could make the purchase online after being advised that it could be done if I so liked, that was yesterday afternoon. I have yet to hear back.

I will be purchasing the kit since I believe it to be the best possible option for this vehicle. It's worth the cost and I don't want to cut any corners, even though other kits have worked well for other individuals. I can only hope that everything going forward goes smoothly since I don't have much longer until Wuste which is the short-term goal. OCD doesn't currently have a kit in stock (according to the email from Bagriders) so unfortunately I can't order it directly through them, otherwise I would have after getting the feeling that I was going to have problems with communication.

#stressed #wusteprep (sorry I used hashtags in my post)
