Cool 1972 Mercedes 250C (OG - Los Angeles)

What's up Stanceworks. Going to scan my build pics and write a full description. In the meantime here's my 1972 Mercedes 250C (w114) in it's current stage. For what I'm calling Stage 1 I'm about 85% done.

    I've always wanted:

A Mercedes Coupe (glad I didn't pull the trigger on a sedan W114 as much as I love em)
60's Styling (this has been the same body style since 1969)
A resto project but not too old that I would have to deal with a ton of rust
And a clean Original yet Gangster look

Here's what the Merc looked like the day I bought it. I luckily started off with a solid platform but there was a lot of work to be done! If you notice the clear coat was peeling off which is a bad sign because Mercs of this time didn't have any. Which means this car had already gone through a respray. The car now has clear coat but the formulas are much better. Also had a rust spot on the passenger side C pillar. This is very common because the drip rail is designed to direct water to that area.

And here's some shots of her getting ready to be sprayed. I was very lucky on body rust. The only area we could find is the one mentioned near the C pilar / drip rail. Other than that body wise we didn't find any. From the research I did with Mercedes Benz Classic Center this has always been a California Car. Btw, for those who don't know you can contact MBCC and have them pull your build sheet from the factory. Had mine emailed with an english translation.

Sorry don't have pics of the car being put back together after the body work and paint but you get the idea.

    Wink

Here are a few pics of the Benz at "ride height".

    And now dumped

Air suspension: Viair 444c Pump, 3 Gallon tank, 1/4 DOT lines, 150 PSI 4-Switch, 2 - Dual Viair gauges

    Some Interior Shots

I do have the original Becker Radio. It needs to be rebuilt. Has a small crack on the faceplate, sound cuts in and out, and at times doesn't work at all. Was thinking about removing the faceplate and retrofitting it on a modern knob style AM/FM stereo.

    Some extra detail shots

CA Black Plates finally came in. Re-thinking I should have requested VIPBENZ instead of VIPMERC. If I ever sell the W114 by default my next project will be a Mercury Lead Sled. Last year of the CA black plate was 1969 and luckily my 1972 250C has been the same body style since 1969 so it makes sense.

Since one of the main features of the coupe is the no B-pillar window, I decided to take the head rests off and cap the holes. Now you can see straight through without obstructions.

    Original Spare

Still some work to be done!

thanks brother! I actually wouldn't mind the manual windows =) My passenger side motor blew once and every time I open the windows or moonroof I make the sign of the cross. feelin your coupe. I'm also going to powder coat my wheels black and get some mooneyes spider caps. it'll give it a rock a billy vibe. makes a huge difference for not too much money. I think it'll look sick on yours.
