  • European Trip

So in 2013 the boyf and I went on a roadtrip round EU in his MK4 GTI T.

Was a good drive, making sure we made Wolfsburg of course.

After it being a success we *MIGHT* be going again.

Where Chris had a semi-reliable car at the time we used that, this time as we don't really, and I don't fancy taking a 1.7 SlowDi Lupo, so we have already booked our flights to Amsterdam as initially we were just going to go for the weekend.

We are going for a week and haven't booked places to stay.

Now, as it is the first week in May we are going, I see a lot of people are headed to Worthersee this week.

Is it going to be worth renting a car and driving from 'dam to Worthersee? Or staying in the area around Amsterdam? We've got a while to decide yet, but I'd like to sort it soon-ish

    Thanks guysssssss

    you do realise that's a 1000KM+ ride?

it is worth it am see (but i think you are better off flying from a'dam then driving, especially if you are only a week in the old world)

Yeah I know, it works out about 10 hours driving each day. But we could stop off in Germany for a day to break it up a bit.

When we went before we hit France, Belgium, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic and back again in 6 days!

But is Worthersee REALLY worth the effort?

In land European flights are crazy money. From 'dam to Austria is like £400 each as far as I can find!

that's because you are thinking mayor airports

i'll bet you from lets say brussels south airport to ljubljana (120KM from the see) won't cost you more then 180€ (which is still a lot haha)

a'dam is cool, but i go there a lot (only 2h drive from where i live)

When we are paying £23 for each flight from Stansted it seems pointless paying more, may as well just stay in 'dam.

But is there enough to justify staying for a week?

I'd stay for 3 day 2 nights, with the money you save you can always travel somewhere else. There is only so much you can do there..i've been maybe 6 times and honestly have no desire to go back lol...it loses it's lust after a while.

Jesus dude that sucks. People tried hustling us (we were there on duty for military) we stopped by the van gogh museum and a marine that was with us bought a picture made of rice for 250 dollars. I wanted to smack the shit out of him.

I will say that Jordaan is one of the coolest places to eat/ hangout in the evening. Really nice scenery.

Yeah I'm thinking now just a few days, few places I wanna get to whilst I'm there, then possibly head over to Bruges!

It can't be that expensive over there! The most expensive place I have found in Europe so far is Germany!
