If it was me, I would put the other wheels back on and spend the winter refinishing the wheels. I would be really excited if I had an E28 and Style 5's, but it will be totally worth it if you get those wheels looking great without having to rush.

Since we have pretty stupid winters here, after the snow comes and goes, put the refinished style 5's on and your golden for the spring through the fall of next year. Even with stock height, a quality refinishing job on those wheels will make the car sing.

As for a center color, you can't go wrong with polished lips and either hyper silver centers and chrome bolts, or white centers and gold bolts.

AND if you need to sand blast any parts to get them ready to paint so you don't have to hand sand them, your welcome to come over and blast them. Just text me 859-339-5900 if you want help with anything.

Understandable. Had my bug, in drivable condition, for almost a year before I was happy enough to have it registered. Then almost another year before I even purchased the low parts.

Yeah one of the rotors are warped which makes it to where when you brake anywhere over like 40 mph it wobbles like crazy. The only gauge that i know works correctly is the tach, and all the rear bushings are pretty shot so its gonna take a little work. As far as i know the gauges just need a battery.

i would definitely refinish the style 5's over winter if i were you. probably should work on getting everything working well before you worry about coilovers. i've been in the same boat and you will end up with a much cleaner car if you maintain it before you modify it.

if you need any info on refinishing the wheels shoot me a message. i've done it many times and i'm semi-local.

Thanks for all the input guys! The only thing i am not quite sure about so far is what color i want to paint the centers. I would really like to do gold but part of me wants to do something more bold and uncommon. Any suggestions are welcome!

What kind of path do you want take with the car?

Do you want it to be more classy, or more "tunerish."

Classy would be polished lips and chromed centers or silver, charcoal or white centers. Something along those lines. More of a colorful approach kinda gives off a fun stance look. If you want to do something uncommon, im not really sure what you could think of in terms of color. Just about thing has been done. I think a crazy color is the least popular.

Like the difference between Jeremy Whittle's old E28 that was classy as shit:

Or you could take a path that makes the car look kinda fun or laid back.

Idk how familiar you are with automotive forums but just about everyone has a different view. So it ultimately comes down to what you want and what makes you happy. Just because someone on here with 10,000 posts says that they don't like what your doing with the color or something or the car, doesn't mean you can't do it.

Just make sure you don't take peoples opinions on here very seriously. Some threads get really ugly, really quick.

Thanks for all the input. I really want to make it look classy although the condition of the car doesn't reflect that. So, eliminating choices, full polish would probably cost too much for me even though i would love to do it, charcoal may be a bit too dark for my taste, and i am not a huge fan of white on white so that would leave with silver! I just wish i could do something that gold bolts look good with. But this is obviously the first time i have done this so i guess a little confusion should he expected.

EDIT: after looking on google a little bit i am split between gold or silver with gold bolts. Silver is more classy but gold is pretty good too. Any opinions to help me make the decision?

I think Gold centers with chrome bolts or silver centers with gold bolts would look nice.
