  • #1of1rebuild: 2000 SG/DBO Mcoupe rebuild

Bought my dream car finally June 2013. It was a little rough, but I fell in love with it immediately.

    Current Photo(s)

    Backstory:
    Specs:
    2000 Z3 Mcoupe (E36/8)
Steel Gray exterior (400) Custom order
    Dark Beige Oregon (R3SN)
    1 of 1
    944xx Miles at purchase
100% stock, save for a set of Billy sport front struts

Orignal owner was a Docter from DC (per business cards found under seats) and it was apparent he didnt "care" for the car like he should have being that he ordered it SPECIFICALLY for him orignally. Guy (technically 2nd owner) I ended up buying it off a dealer lot and put only 300 miles on it before, what I understand to be, not having the desire to put the work into bringing it back to its proper state.

    Issues:
Transmission wasnt very smooth, clutch point was at the floor, throw out bearing was shot, minor rust, curbed rims, dent in hood, scrapes on pass rear fender, tear in driver bottom bolster, misc broken/missing interior bits, dinged/misaligned bumper, missing undertray, the list goes on, but I'll get to some pictures:

2014-2015 winter projects update. OP has been updated with build info, below is the photo dump worth while shots of what I had done over the last "off" season.

Swapped in an E36 PS cooler & added rogue underdrive pullies

              Almost 4 feet of rubber

Since I had to ditch the OEM heat shield for the S50 tank retrofit I wrapped the OEM ECU box:

Added more useful gauges over the OEM voltmeter and analog clock:

First fit of the v2.0 retrofit:

              S50 tank retrofit process:

Driver side door window slider replacement was a real PITA with a bunch of broken welds/cracks and torn metal

And as it sits now: Mscire2's shots from Schuh Syndikat 2015.

chrome came from the factory. The accents are everywhere and would be a pain to remove them all, so for now they stay. I've never been a huge fan of it but it grows on you after you drive the car.
