I received some rigid "silent"blocs which where mounted on Groupe IV A110 in the late 60's
Well, when I say rigid it is rigid.. since they are not amortizing any vibration
Some work on the front drive train:
New rear springs (-45mm)
The body is approaching the floor...(at that time the car was empty, no motor, no doors...)
On the left the originals, on the right upgraded ones
the calipper and the disc come from a R16, and the aluminium adapter has been made "sur mesure". It is exactly what Alpine has done on the A110 Groupe IV (Alpine's official rallye cars)
Nice
After that the rollcage has been installed
The handbrake has be re-chromed:
Electricity... my nightmare...
Welcome on board,
the advantage of the vintage rollcage is that the rear seats are "fully" operational, ok, the one on the left will have to keep is head down...
A view of the cockpit, the original wheel has been replaced by a vintage one
Some paint work (as stated before the result was a mess, but I post the pictures)
The primer on doors
The rear face, necessited some more work:
Paint vs primer on the picture the difference is clear, but in fact the color where very close, and it was hard to see, where it was already painted or not
Doors in place:
Hood too
Rear face ready to be painted (i will keep the hand painted old number)
Front acces to the rescue wheel (I don't know the name in english...) with the original temporary number (it is the 1st plate the car received when new, before having the first title)
Rear face done, with a try for the rear lights
Just a try with the fenders
Rear
Front, the fender will need some work, since the wheels are slightly outside
I've got 3 set of vintage wheels for that car, the steel, which are on the car, the PLS which are above and a thrid set, which is very rare (I've never seen a R8 whith those) in a BBS style, all are in 6x13 with differents offsets on top of that I keep the original 4x15 steels
It is hard to find wheels for this car at a decent price, it is 3x130, which is not common, but it is the same used on the Alpine A110 (same drive trains) and the R8 Gordini which are now really exepnsive, and the wheels are following their price unfortunately...
@ j3wman: I've never heard of a R8 wagon, do you have a picture?
