You should suggestively push this build into the Vaughn Gittin Jr RTR X direction. lol
I love that car so much.

All the cars i see at various Goodguys Auto X via the web really make me want a
heavy custom suspension modded old domestic vehicle. :-)
That would be incredible. He's looking to keep it more as a cruiser/stoplight drag car. (He's already been joking with my friends challenging them to races. haha) He wants to actually drive this one A LOT. Not like his past two cars:
    1964 Mercury Comet Caliente

1964 Mercury Marauder Bud Moore replica race car. This thing was a full-on balls-to-the-wall period correct caged race car with a staight piped 550HP 427 and a 4-speed. It was nuts. I don't a picture of it right now (it was built awhile ago) but this the car it was based on.

There's a picture of it on the wall of at the shop from when the took it out to the Salem Speedway in Indiana and ran it a bit. I'll see if I can grab a pic of that picture when I'm there this weekend.

    It's a work in progress^

      Startup video.

Built 390 starting for the first time. Only ran for a minute because it was leaking fuel at the carb.

See now being British this is my sort of Build, American muscle cars are the best cars around, when this thing was in its prime the British were making the Morris Minor, oh the joys. Looks cool though cant wait to see this as it goes on

Haha. Thanks. The owner of this actually used to own some British engineering from this time period. He had a Jaguar XKE back in the 70's.

The exhaust is on! We're looking at running some tips out the side for the cutouts so all the noise won't be from the right under the front seats. I'm not sold on the way it will look (Seeing as there will be tips in the back as well) but I'll wait until it's finished up.

And some more decent pictures of some parts of the rest of the car

Thanks guys. Started to finalize the exhaust today. Using clamps to join everything because of the limited space. If we welded it, we'd have to cut pipes if the drive shaft ever needed to come out. Also, the front fenders are on for now. Little teaser:

Slowly being put back together as it lurks in the back corner of the shop.

I just love those grilles and light covers.

Decided to take the exhaust out each side behind the rear wheels versus going out the rear valance.

EDIT: Forgot to mention the headlight cover motors.

So as some of you may or may not know, these actually originally used vacuum pumps to operate the headlight covers. Vacuum pumps were not going back on this car. Besides, they would often cause the lights to open separately and we don't like the sound of that. After speaking with West Coast Classic Cougars, it was found that electric motors can be modified to work with the covers. Got a pair of motors from a Ford Probe and rigged them out to work in place of the old pumps.

Not really a big update. The exhaust is 100% finished now. Headlight are in and working. Some pictures:

It ALMOST went for a drive. It got to here:

And bottomed out. A slammed as shit S2000 went in and out of that shop like 20 minutes before this, but the Cougar's exhaust in a lot lower, and that's what was getting hung up.

But the Cougar's suspension settled A LOT more than we were expecting. (It's way lower than it looks in pictures) It's going to be raised just a bit, but don't worry, it's still going to have battle stance status. Before that happens, here a couple pictures of how it sits right now:
