  • Swedish 940 Turbo Smurf

    Hey guys!

Im peeerdy sure i'm not posting this at the right place, but I do hope it's an OK place.

I've been lurking at S/W on and off for a while, and I thought this would be the perfect place to post the bad pictures i never take of my car..

My interest in cars were born when my parents traded their automatic '87 MB 300E for a '94 N/A Volvo 940 (418 Regent Red Pearl). When i've had my drivers license for a year they bought a Saab 9-5 Vector '03 and i got the Volvo..

After i've owned it between '06 and '12 I bought a 422 Turquoise Blue Pearl '96 940 Turbo. Since this car has got no A/C (ECC) or anything electric I've decided that it will be as much a pain in the a$$ to drive as possible..

So I've tried my best to turn it into a stiff mofo with no soft spots.

This was how it looked when i picked it up:

    First things first
I'd thought about probable OEM wheels for what seems like eternity, and have loved the Arrakis' for quite some time.
I thought they were 7.5" ET43 so 7" ET49 was a bit of a letdown, but what the hell, thick or effin' thick spacers, whats the difference?

    Gave $230 for these

and another $330 for these (mounted by my friend Petter, tyvmty)

Test mounting time! Borrowed a pals spacers trying a few combos.. 55 in the rear makes 50 up front, GO:HOME\\ORDR!!!

Spacers home - lets get retarded:

So i ran around like that, cut coils and living the high life..
Until another friend said "i'm pausing my 740/S90front/S70engine/Driftslut/eviltrackday-build, buy my coilovers?"
    So i did.

Mounted them up front, oh lawd:

Mounted Bilstein B8 Sprints and what we in Sweden call "caravan springs" in the rear (non-cutted at this point... as you can see ^^)

yep, its the same pic. mother of God it was high...

    Specs, or smth:

    Engine:
    B230FK

    Gearbox:
    M90

    Chassis:
Homemade coilovers up front with Bilstein B8 Sprint (intended for 240 (shorter))
Bilstein B8 Sprint in the rear w/ shortened "caravan-springs" (thicker, stronger, harder)

    Wheels:
    Volvo Arrakis 7x17 ET49
Effective Offset -1 up front, -6 rear
    Sunny SN3970 205/40-17

    Interior:
    No backseat
Nothing in the trunk, except for the battery
No stereo, no speakers, not even cables for it..

    Exterior:
    Turbo/GLT-grille
    USA-turning lights up front
Original ambercorners rear and on the sides
"Reflex-ramp" between the rear lights (Heckblende in german, no idea what you guys call it)
6& Lamin-X Tint on the headlights
    No badges in the a$$
    New license plates w/o holders
Fat rubber condom for the pulley(?)
    Black B-pillars (vinyl)
    Wind deflectors from Team-Heko.pl (Poland)
    Some stickers

    Hopefully coming up next:
3" exhaust system all the way
    Race catalysator
4.5" end pipe (45 degress pointing down, hidden as much as possible)
    Shortshift
    FMIC (but not tooooo obvious)
Poly bushes everywhere, steel bushes where desired
    Less female clutch
    Strut bar
    iPd Anti sway bars (25/25mm)
iPd Lower Chassis Brace (aka. Ambulance Brace in Swedish, because our ambulances had it originally mounted, not from iPd though)
    Adjustable panhard bar

    Some instapics!

    How it sat last weekend!

    1. I will try my best to post everything that happens to the car here.
    2. I would like to make it an awesome beat up hoonigan car, but i love the colour waaaay to much.
    3. Sorry for any bad english and the trouble it has caused you guys reading this.
    4. This post covers over 1 year of happenings, so don't expect too much happening in the nearest future.

    Love from Brickland

    // Peter.

Sweet! Nice color too, I don't think we ever got that shade of blue in the States.

Thanks! A few positive words can do a lot for motivation

Will try to do something while the weather still is on my side!

Thanks man! Yeah i absolutely love the color. Maybe you didn't? Damn shame in that case

Found a few other not so interesting pics to post, so here we go

A blurry one from the "good side" who hasn't gotten salt splashed all over it from traffic
          the color OMGOMGOMG

A dark pic from the back alongside my friends sweet Corrado G60

Tried putting on these blue ones earlier this year. Didn't match the paint very good tho, so i decided to pull it off again. Looked real bad actually, ill post a picture of them on the car if i find any..

And heres some of the stuff going in to the car if i can find my thumb up my ass, or if any of my more mechanical developed friends ever get time (or a guilty conscience) to help me..

Ok so what did you do for the rear? I'm hoping to have both of mine slammed soon.

In the rear is Bilstein B8 Sprint with chopped "caravan-springs" (so called because they are stronger, thicker and the Super Bowl of spring mounting if they're untouched (as in the pic with the Mt. Everest ass))

Up front is shortened original struts with Bilstein B8 Sprint for Volvo 240 (shorter) and some adjustable top plates..

Here they are, but now welded together and no help-springs:

So the b8 for 240 just drops in? or did the inside of the strut have to be clearanced for the cartrige to fit?

They just drops in! But the strut is shortened the exact amount as the difference between the 240/940 shocks.. (a number i do not have in my head).

                  Et voilá!

I think some model of the Opel Ascona has the same size but even shorter ones.. If you wanna go löööw. Not sure tho, haven't seen it with my own flask bottoms.

Har ju varken fitment eller finish, ser inte alls hur den här skräphögen skulle platsa på oboij..

                              Hey guys!

Gonna share a pretty boring update, looks-wise.

                              Became a good drive though!

                              Ocean of poly bushes

Some sugar and a homemade adjustable panhard bar that we hopefully can talk more about this weekend..
(I do know it doesnt look like much but it did do best ET of 10.14 @ 1/4mile..)

Got a new lifter today, low as fcuk but not low enough, need some wood (that's what she said)

                              Up, up and away!

For everyone who has ever thought "-what wood an original bushing look like embraced by an iron pipe?", here you go:

                              Die.

                              Yaayyy! First one in!

And then the came along nicely

                              Complete!

A little more stiffness added, so we needed the lifter to hold stuff in place

                              Finito!

                              Reppin'

Wonder why my horn only plays the bass? ^^

I would've wanted to make some of the stuff better looking, but since we were at a company we had a time limit..

                              Now i've deserved a beer.
                              Cheers / Peter.
