I guess it's about time I showed what it is I actually do for money.

In the summer I build a lot of high end race cars or do cool things to current race cars. Most of the time it's just "do cool things" like cages, exhausts, and engine swaps. This time though it's building one.

The customer is my dad actually and I'll be building a turbo set-up for his Jeep SRT8. This'll be fun.

The turbo is a PT106 and although you can't tell very well from my trashy pictures, it is massive and weighs like a million pounds. Taking it in and out of the truck for mock up was NOT FUN.

Here's the Jeep... bone stock right now.

    Here's the PT106. And my foot. I'm a size 10.

The first thing I did was plan. No pics of that OBVIOUSLY. Silly.
Then I cleared all the intake stuff out of the way and cleaned everything.

I mocked the turbo up with some boards and other such nonsensical items and proceeded to not take pictures.

Then came the brace to actually hold the turbo. We don't want the exhaust holding this thing up all by itself. Or at all if possible. There are three braces. It's hard to see but if you look closely you can.

    Purdy welds yo.

    Check the fitment...

Oh yeah. We good. Real good.

Also while the turbo was out I cut out the inner fender to allow heaps of air to be pulled in. (I've actually cut out more since.)

Then a downpipe had to be snaked in front of the motor. Not just any downpipe either. Five freaking inches of downpipe.

And tacked into place. A v-band is in the mail right now. But actually this duct tape works pretty well. May just leave it like that.

It's really hard to see from these pictures just how BIG everything is and how tight the fit is. Everything looks so boss though. Stay tuned for more wondrous things.

p.s. I realize this has nothing to do with lowering a car.

          This should be good.

How do you plan getting the hot pipes to the turbo flange?

Doesn't look like there is much room in that engine bay. Looks to me you'd have to run the driver's side bank down under the motor and trans, then back up to the right side of the motor, mate it with the right side manifold somehow, then finally both to the turbo.

          The Kia has been parted.

SRT8's are pretty brutal even in stock form.

I can imagine this with a turbo being pretty dangerous/good

That's pretty much exactly what's going to happen. Both banks will join under the truck and come up between the frame and fenderwell. There's just enough room for the 3.5" pipe.

Right now it's bone stock with an intake and ran a best of 12.73. He has a built motor and trans that I'll be swapping in. We're shooting for 9's.

I just recently did a shoot with a 620awhp Vortech S/C'd SRT-8. These things are fun.

                        I need a 106 for my IS...seriously this little 76mm isn't cutting it anymore
