  • Some old car that will never be low enough - 2002 content

Hello all, I was told I needed to do a build thread on my car so.... here I am . Nothing too special but here we go.

This is my 72 BMW 2002 not a 2002 BMW ???? which my local parts store asks me everytime I go in.. gotta love farm communities in the Midwest. Anywho, originally it is a California car that about 10 yrs ago was brought to Missouri. Before me, there were two owners, and with both the car sat in storage and wasn't driven for some reason. When we originally got it it ran like crap and needed cleaned up which we slowly have done and now I actually daily drive the car for the most part. Now on to the mods.

    1972 BMW 2002
    Exterior:
    All red euro tails
Shorty Front and Rear Bumpers w/ Guards Removed
    Headlight grills
    Euro Turnsignals
    Modified Rear License Plate Bracket

    Interior:
    Recaro Black Cloth Seats
    AMCO Shiftknob
Momo Futura Wheel w/ Momo BMW horn
    E21 Shiftboot
    E21 Floormats
    Custom Wood Trunk Floor
    WWII Mine Case in Trunk
    Custom Center Console
    Moon Equipped Gauges
    Custom Leather Roof Handles
    Euro 3 Piece Dash
Kicker Stereo Hidden in Vintage Camera

    Under the hood:
    E21 Radiator
    Weber 32/36 Carb
    Tailored Supply Brake/Clutch Res
    CATuned Brake Lines

    Suspension/Wheels:
Cut springs in front, heated springs in the rear
    Enkei Apache V's 14x6 17+ Offset

What's been replaced since I got it:
    Windshield
    Front and rear window rubber
    Trunk rubber
    Front bumper with nicer one
    Misc relays and covers
    Seat belts
Lots of wet sanding and buffing
    New cluster
    New turnsignal switch
    New fuse cover
    Boiled out heater core
    New Clutch Slave Cylinder
    New Clutch Master Cylinder
    New Front Calipers
    Rebuilt Shifter
    Gas Tank and Filler Boot

Sadly, being the genious I am, I have like no pics of when we got the car. So... I only have a couple older pics but most are current.

This would have been about March, my E21 in the back ground being sad because it just sits now.

But lets jump to know, nothing really major has changed. Sorry for the crappy pics, hopefully better ones coming soon.

    The interior:

    The exterior:

    Future plans include:
MK1 clamp on roof rack (good luck)
    Weber dual side draft carbs
A drop of some kind, only about 2 or 3 inches, leaning towards GC's and Koni's
Drive it. Like cars are suppose to be, not just sit in a garage.

Well, finally tackled my cooling problems after a new radiator, thermostat and full flush. Needed to test it so I ran up to Omaha to hang out with a buddy that was having his car shot for a mag and my other buddy who was doing the shoot. Car did great. Crashed a VW car show and took 1st place home in the Other category which I found a bit hilarious. Also got a new OEM fuse cover, all the little things add up lol.

Was looking at suspension from I.E. but after some guys who know their stuff shared some knowledge, I've changed my mind.

I've been slacking of late lol, been just driving it daily since getting the cooling issue straightened out. Did start the process of getting the car dropped though, first piece of the puzzle:

Also put an offer in on some wheels so hopefully ill have an update on that soon
