  • Zwingfilms 1998 Legacy EJ255 Turbo Swap

Hey everyone! My car is a 1998 Subaru Legacy Wagon with an EJ255 motor in it from a 2005 Legacy GT Wagon. These motors come stock with an STI block -the difference is the small turbo, plastic intake manifold, and a tiny TMIC. The swap is in the finishing stages and should be done during this summer. When I get my car running prime and have it street tuned in Gig Harbor, I'd like to find a set of wheels, spacers, run some camber, lower my coilovers, and weld in some '89 Honda Accord Fender Flares and give it a nice stance for 2013.

I was a 10th grader in high school and bought this super riced out Subie

These were all of the mods that came with the car
    WRB Custom Paint
    Mesh Grill
    OEM '02 WRX rims
    Stage 2 Racing Clutch
    Skunk 2 shift nob
    2.25" Straight pipe
    Dual Loop OBX exhaust tip
    Perrin Cold air intake
    Smoked tail lights
    After Market Hood Scoop
    Blue HID's

As I've grown older, I've started to turn it from rice to nice

Excited to be apart of this forum, I'm a huge fan of Stanceworks and most of the builds on here.

No, she's my x but we've done a great job of staying friends, I'm not your typical tool Subaru driver haha, yes I was that child who made Subaru tutorials on YouTube. I was learning as I made those tutorials, I never had a dad who knew anything about cars or a group of car enthusiast buddies. Just from personal research and tons of personal experience I slowly taught myself the ropes and then Ben^SlammedForester sparked some interest and we started learning together. We went to the same highs school ad live 5 minutes from each other. He then picked up a sweet fozzy and we just help each other now but with a lot more knowledge. Funny thing is, Ben here was the original photographer and inspired me to pick up a camera and now it's my full time gig!

Back to cars, update- My cars currently at PIA getting some codes figured out with the SSM and when they're done I'm gonna get my car street tuned by Josh Long from Roopair, he use to be on the SRTUSA WRC pitcrew and has a lot of experience, I have a lot of respect for this guy. Stoked to see some big numbers. Stock this motor makes 180whp and I'm hoping to see around 285ish whp and 350hp to the crank-also 350 f/lbs torque

Welcome! Good to see a bit of Legacy love. Do you have a link of where you're taking yours for a remap? I need to get my 05 in for a tune as well and don't want to go to Auburn fot a JohnJohn tune if I don't have to.

Also, you plan on going to the Subie meet in Port Townsend in August?

Theres a link to their website- he does the tuning personally on his own
so just ask for Josh Long to talk about getting your car tuned.

Hopefully my car is ready by then, if so I'll probably be there

How well did the 05 dash fit into the BK? How much Custom fab did you guys have to endore?
But this wagon is sweet. I've been searching for a wrecked 4th gen LGT to do a swap similar to this into my BD.
                            Keep the posts coming!

Sorry I haven't been active with this thread at all. Were still working out a throttle issue but
here's a before and after in the mean time. This is what the motor looks like today
