  • Yeah I have some experience, but a long time ago, will just jump back into Fusion. I did Autodesk for about five years, but that's going on 8 years ago now...

I currently work with Autodesk Inventor. Have tried Fusion a little while back but I just could not get into the workflow. Actually suprised me Inventor and Fusion are so different from each other

      • Oh very interesting! I might have to take a look, I also found a couple of other beginner printers that might be fun to start using… should probably finish the 911 though aha

        • I used to run a few Makergear M3's at a previous gig, can confirm that 3D printers are a wise investment. I'm eyeballing getting one for home. Now because they're so handy for day-to-day stuff.

I was a little spoiled having Solidworks for work; a student license is cheap ($100/year) and slicing software is cheap.

Do it, Seb. You'll be happy you did.

See the printer as a tool, not as a new hobby. I use my printer for jigs, small mounting brackets and even as a 2D plotter because my paper printer cant print to scale. (just model your template as a 1mm thick plate and stop the printer after layer one :') )

So it could probably really help you out with the Porsche!

            • Alright, definitely going to pull the trigger on a printer.
I think I'm just gonna get a FlashForge 3, it seems like I don't have to do any setup and just feed it designs etc.
Easiest solutions are my favorite solutions, although at some point I'll probably want to upgrade and get more from it...

How easy is it to merge two prints? I've seen a few videos of epoxying them together, I assume for larger pieces it is necessary....

              • Instead of buying the printer, bought some new wheels for the 911 aha

                • Hell yeah new wheels.

Got a free exhaust for the Ducati cause the shop was gonna throw it out. Looked it up and it turns out the damn thing is titanium and about 700 bucks brand new.

                  • Narrow body wheels that will just work so that I don't have to stress, then I'll build up the RS' that I have

Hell yeah, nice score! I want more free 911 things aha

                    • Got the new exhaust mounted on the Ducati, decided it was a bit too mellow. Took the baffle out while I was on my lunch break and sweet JESUS it's punishingly loud. Perfect.

                      • CJ, How well to those Scrambler's hold their value down there? I'm debating on trying to find one to use for summer riding up here.

                        • Perfectly punishingly loud is the best kinda exhaust setup

I see them on FB classifieds all of the time for sub 5k. They're the cheapest thing Ducati makes and they're super popular, so they don't hold their value well at all. Plus they have the lowest service intervals of any modern Duc (7500 vs 18,000 -> 30,000 miles for the watercooled bikes). If you can handle your own maintenance they're not bad to own. REAL fun in the canyons cause they're so damn light.

                              • It was great seeing you again dude. Wish it had been under better circumstances.

I realized that I need to actually put effort into spending time with people. I kind of isolated myself for the last few years.
