I have seen notched subframes before. I am currenlty collaborating on some custom control arms so that the ball joint angle on the strut is not angled too harshly. I have gone through ball joints so quickly before.

Lmk when those are complete. I'm in for a set. I'm this close to notching the subframe on the e21 this winter, but would much rather not do so.
