  • Measuring wheel for width, ET, dish and widening

I recently managed to get my hands on a set of 16x7.5 et 20 hartge rims, or so they were sold to me. I've found a Hartge catalogue and it has no listing for any 16x7.5 et20 wheels, only et25. I want to widen 2 wheels for the rear but want to be sure of the correct et and also what size dishes I have now.

I found a guide online that shows to measure between the beads, this roughly measures about 7.5" so I'm pretty sure they are 7.5J wide.

I did a quick sketch in cad with my measurements and get ET25 which is spot on what hartge list!

I don't quite understand how to properly measure the dish though. It has a step back on itself and I'm not sure how to measure it right because of this. Measuring them like below their 1" and a 1/4

At a guess I would say they are 1.5" dishes?

I'd like to widen them though to 9J and so really need to know the size of the original dishes. Also to got from 7.5J et25 to 9J am I right in saying they become ET6?

You've got everything correct except for how to measure the lip. Measure from the inside where the lip bolts to the face to the inside of the bead. Some oz's use odd sized lips too, you probably have .75" lips.

I thought I might have got that bit wrong, it's not going to be easy to get a correct measurement without splitting the rim. Unless someone knows the thickness of the metal thats bolted to the rim?

Can you get .75" in bigger sizes, like 2.75"? To make a 8.75" width?

You should be able to get a pretty accurate measurement even if the sealant is still on there, it's not like you have to use a caliper or anything. They actually look like 1.25 lips from the width pic you posted. If the lips are in .25" sizes, the barrels will be the same.

The outer dish steps back on it self (if that makes sense) making it hard to get a good measurement. If it helps at all, the inner barrel measures roughly 6" to 6.25". Rim is built up dish - centre - barrel.

Nice topic. while we are here.
How do you measure wheel bolts?

Im looking at these, and im guessing the M7 is the size of the 12pt head (7mm) and the 32mm is that the threaded portion or the entire thing.
Secondly, how do i know the length of the un-threaded portion?
Need to know, because i want black bolts, and if know how to measure mine i can order the right stuff the 1st time.
            I haz 4 wimz. need 4 more.

The 32mm part is measured below the head to the end of the thread on the bolt.

the bolt in the image below is M10x33(x1.25)

Although I always thought to measure the bolt size you measure the threaded section diameter and this is the M size?

              ---edit---

I just measure one of the bolts on the wheels and it's 7mm diameter, they are M7x32 bolts same as what scaredofstance needs

Thanks. But in my link. The bolt isn't threaded all the way on the shaft.
Am I still measuring the threaded portion?
And how do I know the portion that is not threaded is the same lenght?

I'm not sure tbh, I think it's still a M7x32 bolt (or what ever you measure) just the shank length is taken up in the total length of the bolt. Best remove one bolt and measure it up with some callipers to be sure. This site lists M7x32 with 20mm thread: http://www.titanium-touch.de/shop/pr...ews-M7x32.html

                      K. So I used the link u just posted. Measured my bolts.
12pt head seem to be 9mm peak to peak and 8 or 7mm valley to valley. Not so relevant. I have more than 1 size socket.
The shaft is pretty much 32, but ideally I'd call it 31mm. And the threaded portion 20mm in length.
                      So do I have a M# x 31?

1mm won't make a difference to the length. Measure the diameter of the shank and thats your M size. If you said what wheels they were someone will prob know the bolts you need.

Measurement is really important for every whare and the most important in construction work. Here this post is really helpful about the hands-on set and wheel. I prefer to check this https://catscasinos.co.uk/ site and get interesting casino games. You're sharing very unique and helpful info for the math students who are facing issues.
