  • Audi A4 B7 2.0TQ | Project Déjà-vu

    Hello to all.

In times when build threads in fora are dying, and youtube is the way to go, I choose to start a new build thread, regarding the continuation of my most beloved project car so far, my blue Audi A4.

Some of you might know it, it is this car here.

So, long story short, after having done almost nothing in the past 8 years in the blue Audi, I bought yet another one. Same colour, year, month, plate, Audi A4 B7, only this time a 2.0TQ tfsi engine.

    Here it is.

I was wondering if this was going to be the same older car, or a new one. I am excited to see what you are going to do with it in the end. Crazy to think how long I have been following the other one.

Next on the list, was some door car action. I had the ones i had trimmed in alcantara, and also with some other touches.

Started with this, the OEM leather one

          Part-3 by mgpdoc, on Flickr

          Removed

          Part-3 by mgpdoc, on Flickr

Side by side, and also swapped the harnesses, because the latest one, had more OEM lighting equipment, so kept that which is nice

          Part-3 by mgpdoc, on Flickr

Had to open a hole here, to fit the socket

          Part-3 by mgpdoc, on Flickr

Very easy to do, since it is factory pre-cut

          Part-3 by mgpdoc, on Flickr

I really like how this turned out, and been waiting for years to see it installed

          Part-3 by mgpdoc, on Flickr

          Part-3 by mgpdoc, on Flickr

This was the other option on the GT3-clubsport style doorhandles, but decided to go with blue

          Part-3 by mgpdoc, on Flickr

          Same procedure on passenger side

          Part-3 by mgpdoc, on Flickr

          Part-3 by mgpdoc, on Flickr

As the other A4 was supposed to be used mostly for racing purposes, I had not trimmed rear door cards. Which something I might have to do in the near future.

          Cheers

Next on the list was cleaning the interior. I dont particularly love cleaning interiors, and since all my cars were bought new, this is the first time i am cleaning a used car. So it was something i had to do. Be polite, it is not something I am good at, nor a pro.

I mostly used Koch Polstar which is an amazing product to say the least.

I will let the photos do the talking.

            Removed with Koch Orange (OP)

            Part-3 by mgpdoc, on Flickr

Cleaning the leather seats was very rewarding in the end

            Part-3 by mgpdoc, on Flickr

I also took some 50:50 shots to show the difference

Put some time into the trunk area, nothing major here

Also, the rear trim was scratched and tired so installed my older trimmed one with carpet

So, opened some boxes with things i had custom made / ordered for my other blue A4, and that i had never installed, which made me sad.

Turned into the Carbon/Kevlar interior trim pieces' box which were made in the US.

This one is the custom shifter surround with the gauge pod integrated.

Part 4 by mgpdoc, on Flickr

Lost no time and went onto installing them

Part 4 by mgpdoc, on Flickr

While i was there i retrofitted the DRL switch button, and then turned it on via vcds

                    Side by side

Part 4 by mgpdoc, on Flickr

                    Boom installed

Part 4 by mgpdoc, on Flickr

                    Then did the doors

Thing is, that because i was planning to only use the front of the previous A4 , i had only done the front one. So in the back I installed some piano black ones i had laying around and it looks likes this currently

Part 4 by mgpdoc, on Flickr

Then the dash trim as well

Part 4 by mgpdoc, on Flickr

I will install the shifter one at a later point, deciding if i will go 2-din or the gauge pod trim. We shall see.

Yes, certainly, wheels will go. Or let me say, they have already left the car.

                        Some more updates then.

                        More updates.

ESP button changed with a new one.

                        Old tired

Part 4 by mgpdoc, on Flickr

                        And new one

Part 4 by mgpdoc, on Flickr

Hazard switch and light switch have also been ordered and they are on their way. As well as window switches etc etc. All in time.

Then I thought i would start installing some black headliner/roof parts .
I had trimmed my A-pillars in alcantara so thought I would install those. Sadly, again, only the front Pillars. But all in time.

Part 4 by mgpdoc, on Flickr

Did the other side as well

Part 4 by mgpdoc, on Flickr

I had also sourced an RS4 dome light in black, with a switch for a sunroof which i dont have - at least currently lol -

Part 4 by mgpdoc, on Flickr

                        So before

Part 4 by mgpdoc, on Flickr

                        And after

Part 4 by mgpdoc, on Flickr

One other job i was not looking forward to doing, is swapping the headlights. They were both OEM Bi-xenons, however the old ones had the AFS system (turning when the car was cornering) whereas the latest one didnt.
I thought it was a matter of plug and play. Ofcourse it wasnt.

So I ended up swapping the painted housings to the electrics needed on the latest car. In my car, it also means dropping the bumper. Typical audi fashion.

Part 4 by mgpdoc, on Flickr

                        After opening the chrome one.

Swapping housings, cleaning, and also repainting while i was there

Part 4 by mgpdoc, on Flickr

What is more, wiring was cracked, and redid the harness with TESA fabric tape for wiring looms

Part 4 by mgpdoc, on Flickr

                        Done

Part 4 by mgpdoc, on Flickr

Tested prior to fitting the plastic lense

Part 4 by mgpdoc, on Flickr

All worked perfectly. What i will do in the future is source some new lenses cause there are a bit tired from time and road driving in highways.

                        A different car.

Part 4 by mgpdoc, on Flickr

Awesome update mate, you've really got an eye for detail. Most would leave something like a worn out button. You say you don't have the sunroof yet, does that mean you're getting the angle grinder out?
