Some things got done after I came back from summer holidays .

Not in the correct order, but here goes

    1. Decided to clean the HVAC system of all the cars, so got some supplies from WURTH. I love this company their products do what they say they do.

First, AC Cleaning stuff for killing bacteria, disinfecting, etc. You spray with the nozzles inside the vents pretty much.

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

Then, you turn these cabin bombs on, while car is on Air Recycle, and leave it with closed windows. Preferably with noone sitting inside the car at that point as well.

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

Yes I know there are 4 bottles for 3 cars, I used a double penetration for the latest A4, because not only my own DNA is (hopefully no more) inside it.

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

    2. Got me some garage stuff

--Some sitting and working seats for the garage because the old ones were damaged or tired. These ones from IKEA work perfectly are very comfortable, and affordable.

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

Also great to work while sitting on them and cleaning the wheels.

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

--While I was at IKEA, also spotted some nice dispenser, for QDs, etc

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

not bad and with measuring scale at the side.

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

--Some more Koch stuff which i highly recommend for interior cleaning . They are awesome. Plus a new tyre dressing to test on the left, which seems to work nicely.

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

    Finish of the shine foam

    3. Licence plate frames from Audi

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

Part number is this in case anyone wants to buy them as well

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

Side by side with the one I got in my A1

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

    Time to install it

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

Came out subtle and clean, I like it

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

    4. Interior and Headlight Canbus (supposedly) white LED lamps

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

These ones are for the DRLs

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

    And these are canbus ones

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

    They work and look great

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

However they dont do the trick for the check light for lamps

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

This car is very very stubborn in this area. Sadly I will have to install canbus at some point which I **** tbh. Too bored to at the moment.

    5. RS4 Pedals Installation [PLEASE IF ANYONE HAS A FOOTREST LET ME KNOW PLEASE ]

    Before

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

    Brake on

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

Bit of a PITA to install them when new, but got there with some nice words

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

    6. Damaged Door rubber seals

    Driver door had this

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

Removed the rubber, however these stay behind. At least they did in me.

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

WHAT A PITA to remove these. I was feeling sad for myself while doing it. THEY ARE SO MANY

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

New rubber seal to go in

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

    Good

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

    No damage now

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

The only other door that has the same damage, is the rear passenger one.

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

However because I will end up changing rear doors (because RS4 swap) i decided to not change this rubber seal at least for now. It is kinda pointless. We shall see.

    Took some shots.

Then I got another exciting, for me at least, thing that I had ordered from Germany. Something which is custom, and come in CF, cannot be anything but exciting I guess.

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

This is destined for the front grille, unlike the cheap chinese Quattro badges, this is harder to install because it is not flexible, however it looks like a whole different level when done so properly. I have seen it in my buddy's TT and it is amazing.

Wanted to give it some depth, so WetSanded it down with this

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

Clear coated with this 2k clear, multiple coats

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

    After 1st coat

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

Came out amazing tbh above my expectations

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

Currently waiting for some parts to arrive to start installation process

    Like this special glue

While waiting got the bumper off to be able to work properly

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

Also cleaned the steering wheel cooler from this

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

    To this

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

Made a template which will come handy when installing on the Grille

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

And a short video of the finish I achieved.

So, in this post I will try to document the procedure of the CF Quattro Grille badge and what it needed to be mounted properly.
Because if you recall, it had no mounting points and was just cnc cut cf piece.

But first, do you remember the caps on the wheels i swapped from the A4 to the Golf ?

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

    Received these

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

And the wheel configuration turned into this

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

    Now onto the Grille project

Last parts necessary for the project arrived and everything was set

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

Masked everything around and mounted the paper logo i made

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

Then I used the chalk spray to paint and create a shadow where I would make the recess / case for the badge to sit in.

Because the badge is not flexible and the grille is curved there needs to be quite some work for it to sit initially and then a very strong specific glue to make it sit in place.

    Sprayed

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

After having done this, I have to say the chalk spray didnt work well. Neither did it make a really clear line where I would have to use the dremmel, nor did the chalk spray remove with water afterwards as easy as it should have. Probably because it was raw plastic and not something clear coated i guess and the paint bonded somewhat in there. In the end i got it out, but also some words through my mouth. Oh well

    Out came these

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

Slowly, literally slowly, took material out

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

    Testing, marking and then again

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

When i was happy with how deep the recess was, I noticed that the finish was a bit different, naturally where it had been sanded

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

So, I gave it a thin coat of satin black, in the lower part to blend it in. I was stress this might cause the glue to not work as it should, but couldnt accept it looking it like that even though I would possibly be the only one having noticed it.

    After the light coat.

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

    Ready for glue

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

And plenty of zip ties to keep it there while curing

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

Left it like that for 72h although it was an overkill. But I didnt need the car, so why not.

The glue literally becomes like a thick plastic. Science b*tch I guess.

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

    Used about 1/3

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

    Sh*t's about to get real

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

    Everything worked perfectly

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

    Cat was shocked

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

Test fitted the licence plate to see how it looks

    Ugly like i guessed it

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

Time to see how it looks on the car

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

I totally love it. Hope you find this nice as well .

    Received some new orders.

    1. Some custom plugs for the oil sump which allow for the installation of the temp sensor. I have these made custom in the past, but there was a leak in one of them in the Audi A1 after many years, so thought I'd give these a go.

Bought three of them just to put one in each of the running projects I guess.

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

They seem like good quality. We shall see

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

Bought some new clips for the rubber seals at the doors.

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

Never thought clips could cost that much tbh, but oh well.

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

Then I received a thing i scored over at ebay, for a cost of less than 10euros

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

Okay there was some shipping which made this cost almost 20euros, but still it was a nice buy. And when it arrived it looked like new and wanted just a clean nothing more

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

Next to the one from my car.

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

Why did i buy that u ask.

The only difference they have is this for the tray to light up with interior lights

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

    I swapped parts then

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

And then i made some measurements

    Untitled by mgpdoc, on Flickr

You see where this is going .

    Any guesses ?
