This looks really cool. Can't wait to see it lowered a bit more.
As someone from the UK I love seeing USDM stuff being modified like this!

Thank you! Yeah I would like to see it lower too. I live close to BC racing HQ so I'm hoping I can get them to make me some custom coilovers.

I forgot to take a photo of the radio I got at the junk yard to hold me over till I can get an android radio.

I did a lot of research looking at all the different android radios that are available and I found one that I think will work great. Its designed for a KIA but it fills the hole nicely. I printed it to scale so I can see how it would look in the dash.

Got some Hood struts and removed the hood prop. It must have been from another car because now the hood closes so much nicer.

So I finally got my paint match spray can. The plan is to remove the cladding and plug the holes.

    IMG_2128

I sanded them down and painted them.

Cleaned it up with a steamer for now.

    IMG_2147

    IMG_2149

Put a little bit of silicon on them to make them water tight.

I think it came out pretty good. Its better then the cladding but now I can't wait to fill the holes and paint it. I had to order more plugs to do the other side.

Those plugs were such a good idea. Love the riveted look, whether or not it's just temporary.

There was a lot of dirt under there, I cleaned it up and put on the new pieces.

While driving the car it sounded like it has an exhaust leak so I did the reverse vacuum in the exhaust method to find the leak. Seems like its coming from the exhaust flange gasket.

    I will replace this tomorrow.

I don’t understand why more people dong modify these cars, they are pretty ugly stock but so are a lot of cars people customize.

Today I managed to swap the A/C controls back to original. Luckily the car came with a service book that that’s diagrams of all the wiring and I found out that the previous owner re pinned the harness, to I put the pins back to the way they came from the factory and now the original one works. Before it didn’t blow very hard and now it does so I’m super happy about that.

    Got the windows tinted.

Finally got the android head unit in. its made for a Kia.

    IMG_2345

I was able to remove the silver part very easily.

    IMG_2355

    IMG_2346

Wiring harness is wired for the kia but I will just cut the kia end off and wire it to a metro harness for ford.

    IMG_2347

I test fitted it into the dash and its to deep so I was able to remove the cd part and mount the back part vertically.

    IMG_2356

    IMG_2357

I rigged it up in the dash for now so I can see if it works and use it until I get the dash piece done.

this is fucking cool! I cannot wait to see what else you come up with. My buddy in HS had one of these and I always though it would be a unique car to mod.

How are you going to build the new dash surround to fit that stereo? Fiberglass? 3D printing?

I’ll use plastic bond and some body filler. I’m copying soundman’s method of doing iPads in the dash.

Got started on the dash piece.

I got to this point where I was ready to tack glue it in place then when I was cleaning the plastic dust off I dropped it and it broke into three pieces. So now I need to buy a new bezel and start over.
