  • Protect yourself when buying wheels?

Might be the wrong location for this, but I couldn't find this information anywhere in the stickys or in any other threads (mods please move if so)

I'm wondering what people have done for protection when buying something on a forum when it involves shipping. My first thought is to go through ebay and just swallow the extra costs, at least that gives protection incase something like a wheel turns out to be a fake, or if the sender doesn't even send them at all.

What have you guys done in the past? There are so many good wheel options on here but for people like myself that don't post a lot (but still visit the forums often) and have a limited account history, there's not a lot to go off.

    Thanks in advance

Doesn`t Paypal provide enough protection for buyers?

eBay has some pretty sketchy sellers too man, but honestly PayPal usually is the one to straighten things out.

Avoid buying from overseas, especially Eastern Europe. In case of a dispute shipping the wheels back will be prohibitively expensive.
Deal with people that have been around for a while.

I have only ever bought wheels online from speedway but I would recommend either new from a reputable seller or something you can get detailed pictures of or see in person.
