My first HDR attempt

I know HDR is not the preferred type of photography by some people. I just would like to know how to do it properly. I tried my best to not go overboard with it as I have seen done by some. I used photoshop in CS6 and merged 5 photos. I was not able to completely get rid of the halo around the car even though I tried my damnedest and it bothers me a bit. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
